Has anyone flown from Gatwick to Orlando recently? Have recently been reading some quite negative comments on another site regarding condition of the planes, stating that the fleet is getting old and tatty now!

Has anyone found this? Another comment was lack of entertainment and faulty tv screens.

We have chosen to fly Virgin over other airlines as have used them before to another destination and found the sevice and cleaniness of the plane excellent. Just hoping we haven't made the wrong decision :confused3

By the time you go Virgin will have it's new fleet. :)

Starting to roll out from April.

I'm dreading the tatty old plane we'll get in march!

Depends which flights you are on you could be on the new planes.
We fly out on an old 747 and come home on a new A330.
Not looking forward to outbound flight, last flew on Virgin Xmas 2008 and the cabin was really bad but coming home will be better.

Can't be worse than the SwissAir one my brother and I were on some years back. We made a rapid descent, hit the runway sort of sideways and did the bounce, bounce thing (okay to be fair that didn't help) but as we hopped across the runway the panelling in the ceiling was falling down in blocks onto the aisles and on some passengers. One of the flaps on the overhead luggage compartment fell down and was swinging wildly on a hinge. We were in business class and behind us we could hear shrieking, screaming and wailing from the cabin behind, amidst other thuds, crashes and the sound of things falling. After that flight, I choose my words carefully when criticising an old plane :rotfl2:

we went with them in oct last year, they were pants as always. Planes old, rude staff, rank food. HOWEVER don't stress about it and don't let it ruin any of the trip. I still book .
with them because I think all airlines are pretty much the same these days.

we always take a picnic from M&S with us, then we can avoid the meals!!

I have our flight numbers but don't know if its the old or new planes, knowing my luck it'll be the old ones :lmao:

I'm not too concerned myself, just my in-laws l'm traveling with have never flown Virgin and are really excited about it. Just hope they wont be too disappointed.

As long as we get there safe and sound nothing will stop me looking forward to this trip. Cannot wait! :woohoo:

we flew with them earlier this month and they were fine, nothing special and they did have to reboot the tv system but after that it was all fine - I don't touch plane food anyway so can't comment on that but the service was passable and so was the plane - I am all about the safety as I just hate flying (I am terrifed) and it was a smooth flight both ways and I got there and back in one piece - that was good enough for me!!!:goodvibes
