We leave in less than a month for our fall WDW trip. We usually drive and bring some breakfast items to avoid having to buy them there. This year we are flying. It will just be DH and me. We are also doing a split stay. For the first part of the trip, we are staying at AKV Jambo. We will be eating at Boma for our first breakfast, but we will need breakfast for two more mornings. We then move to CCV where we will need breakfast for two more mornings. I thought about packing some individual juices (double bagged), coffee and filters, cereal, oatmeal, etc. in our checked bag. The only thing we would have to buy in the gift shop is milk. I'm hoping they have the small cartons, so I can get one for the first part of the stay and another for the second part. We would only need enough milk for maybe two bowls of cereal and a tiny amount for my DH's coffee. Is it a good idea for pack these items in our checked bag or not?

We've packed food and drinks (including beer, wine, water and juice boxes) Never had a problem except the tsa usually goes through those bags. I assumed they see large containers during the scanning.
We put our liquids in wine skins, travel bags. Never had one break yet. (They sell all different kinds on Amazon)

Packing the dry goods isn't really a concern. It's the small individual juices. I just don't know what else to pack with them that would provide cushion. I definitely don't want to pack my clothes with them. We may just buy the juice in the gift shops.

Will you do doing any kind of meal plan? You would get the mugs if you do, and they do have juice at some of the refill stations. I have found milk at the resort stores to be quite reasonable. We always pack oatmeal and boxed cereal. The individual servings in those little cups for oatmeal are great....stick it the in the microwave. Or we heat water in the micro in a coffee cup (you are supposed to get glass ones in studios). Cereal bars or nutrigrain bars travel well also. I'm not real keen on transporting liquids in my suitcase. I am guessing you won't be renting a car? I know lots of people will uber or lyft to the Speedway gas stations on property for some staples....they also have breakfast sandwiches and lunch stuff, beer and wine and bottled water.

Have a great trip.

My Brother always seems to pull a couple of bottles of wine out of his checked bag when he comes. Usually in styrofoam sleeves. I think anything light with some rigidity to provide crush resistance should work fine. Especially if you double bag it as you say.

No meal plan. If I was staying at the same resort the whole time, it would probably make sense to buy the mugs just for juice in the mornings. It would probably be cheaper than buying the individual juices in the gift shop. But since I'm changing resorts, I would have to buy the mug for both resorts. We aren't renting a car, and I'm not paying to Uber to get just juice. I MUST have my juice in the mornings though. I would like to take some juices like these. They are $4.19 at my local Kroger right now for 6 count. I'm sure only one container at Disney will cost that much or close to it. I would think it would be best to keep them packaged like this all together. But again, I would prefer to not pack them with my clothes. Not sure where to put them though.

Unless policy was recently changed, mugs can be used at any resort for the length of your stay. But I also don't remember seeing juice at any of the refill stations. I think the bottled juices pictured would be fine. I've brought similar juice in the past. I would be much more hesitant about juice boxes/pouches.

We always pack a separate suitcase full of food. We double bag any liquids just in case they spill. Our daughter is autistic so there are some foods we have to bring to make sure she will eat. We then have an empty suitcase to bring home souvenirs.

We have packed bottles and cans of beers with no issues. Just wrap the drinks in socks or shirts. If they are glass, make sure they can't bang against each other.

The refill stations don't have juice, they have HiC I think which really isn't juice.

I have seen orange juice at BW Bakery in one of those "fountain" type machines, also pretty sure I've seen juice at Contempo Cafe, but things may have changed. I always double ziplock bag any liquids....I'm not afraid of breakage; its more about the pressurization I thought went on in the cargo area of a plane. The juices you want to bring should be fine, just make sure they are sealed in something. TSA can be quite careless if they decide to double check the inside of your checked bag. I was going to try those "space bags" for my clothing next trip, except not sure if I would be able to use the available vacuum to reseal the bag.

You are going to love CCV. Really nice rooms and such a relaxing atmosphere.

On the one hand I've never seen actual juice at the beverage stations.

On the other hand, resort mugs are good at all resorts for 14 days now.

I get a mug for coffee if I'm staying longer than 3 nights. Caffeine in the mornings, decaf at night.

There are no-vacuum space bags. You roll out the air.

Yes, there are vacuum space bags, I have a number of them. There is an opening where you put your vacuum hose, really does make bulky sweaters into a very small pile. The seal does slowly leak open after a few weeks.

The BW Bakery also has a wonderful iced tea station and did have one of those hot chocolate dispensers, but I guess it broke. They do provide you with "instant" packets so you can use the hot water dispenser.

Let me try again. :) There are space bags that do not require a vacuum. You simply roll the air out.

It's an alternative to the vacuum bags. Easier for traveling. I have the vacuum ones for blankets and such that I store for a season. For travel I would use the rolling ones.

LMAO :rotfl2: I thought you were saying there was no such thing as vacuum space bags. Duh....my bad. But I'm still laughing at myself.

Buy the 1/2 gallon (well, 54-59 ounce container) of juice and milk at the resort stores. It's less than $5 each and a better deal than the small ones.

https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/faq/pre-arrival-checklist/grocery-order/

^^The prices are the same as in the store, so you can get an idea of how much it is.^^

Then when you move resorts, mark the refrigerated items as "needs to be refrigerated" and have bell services bring it over to the next resort. They will know what to do. I did that with a split stay between AKV, BCV, and BLT and the cold items stayed cold.

Thanks for the link. That helps a lot!

I guess I should have originally asked anout how many coffee packs come in a studio at the DVC resorts. I know we will have one but if there are two in each studio we won't have to bring our own coffee. My DH is the only one who drinks it. If there's just one is there a way to get a second one?

Not without paying for it. Depending on how long you will be there, it might be worth it to get the refillable mug and bring a second reusable mug from home.
