Flying Through London

I keep getting varying reports on what you can and cannot carryon for a flight that goes through London. I'm flying through London next week on my way to Cape Town/Windhoek and I'm trying to figure out if I have to pack my laptop on my checked luggage (which will take some major rearranging as seeing I'm packing for 2 months worth of travel) or if I can carry it on.

We took our lap top in hand luggage from London to Orlando last month. It's not going to be a government issue but may vary by Airline. Here are the latest government guidelines.

You can take a Lap Top as hand luggage but it must be able to fit in your hand luggage allowance not as a separate item.
