it’s our first cruise out of Port Canaveral for a cruise , (1st Cruise was out of Miami) we are from Boston , what airport do we fly into ? We would like to stay in Port Canaveral the night before , so any information, for a hotel and for transportation from airport to hotel and hotel to the Disney Cruise would be greatly appreciated.

Orlando is the closest airport. It's typically cheapest to get a 1-way car rental and drive yourself to the port area. You can drop off your luggage and family at the port, then go to the car rental and they shuttle will bring you back. Depending on the cost, we've also just parked the rental car at a nearby lot. Several hotels right around the port.

On our last cruise, we flew into Orlando the day before, used Park Avenue Limo for our transfers to Port Canaveral and stayed at Homewood Suites. The hotel has a shuttle to the port (for a fee) or you can use uber. On our next cruise, we will spend the night before at a WDW resort and still use Park Ave. for our transfers (certainly not the cheapest option, but we prefer private transfers). Another option could be flying in the night before and simply staying at the Hyatt in the airport and then taking the Disney Cruise transfer to the port the next day.

Flying into Orlando International (MCO) the day prior to your cruise, staying at the Hyatt in the airport, and taking the DCL bus to the port can be particularly convenient, since they will pick up your checked luggage from your hotel room and you will next see it in the corridor outside your stateroom. You then ride the DCL bus with just your carry-ons. It’s $35 per person for the airport to port bus. We always compare booking direct with the Hyatt to the rate offered through DCL. Rates flucuate, so you may be able to get a better rate on your own than through DCL. You can use the DCL bus and luggage transfer service in either case.

We used Goportcanaveral.com for our last cruise and are using them again for our next 2 cruises. They have package deals with many different hotels in Orlando and PC. We stay in Orlando, but they have a lot of choices in PC also. We had a room with 2 queen beds, breakfast included at the Marriott, plus all transports before/after cruise and paid less for it than we would have paid for Disney transport alone.

I might also add I would also want to pick up some wine ,beer and water

Most hotel shuttles will take you to stores within 3-4 miles of the hotel, at least the ones we've stayed at have done this. We've had them take us the night before, not on the way to the port the morning of the cruise. However we've stayed at hotels in Orlando, I don't know if there's stores close to the hotels in PC though.

And so if you stay at the airport, you can pick up some of these in the stores at the airport. Otherwise, like posters have said, shuttles can take you where you want to go. We have been crazy enough to rent a car for the trip, paid to park it in the deck at the port, and then it was ready when we were ready to leave when we arrived in port. We've also done the DCL transfer and are doing it again next month. It's just easier... Each possible opportunity has it's own pluses and minuses and risks. Choose which one you're most comfortable with and go for it!! :)

Where at MCO can you buy wine and water at less than DCL prices? I've looked at the airport map and couldn't identify any stores. This is our first cruise. Previous trips with arrival at MCO were for WDW so we went directly to Disney Transportation for resorts. We found case of water prices at WDW quite reasonable.

For our upcoming cruise we will be arriving on Delta, Terminal B, Gate 71. If you know of any shops selling wine and cases of water at reasonable prices within Terminal B or main terminal I would love to learn about.

I was told there was a supermarket 3 miles from the cruise line and a liquor store a mile and a half away

Not saying they won't be less than DCL prices... ;) Depending on when you arrive, you can get a shuttle, taxi, uber, or something similar to a nearby store...

Daytona and Melbourne Florida as well as Sanford airport in Orlando are almost as close or closer to the port than MCO. Depending on your airline preference it is always wise to price out all of your options.
