Our current flight has us leaving at 3:00 p.m. and arriving at MCO at 11:00 p.m.

I was wondering if United allows you to fly standby, and if so, do they charge you to do it?

Or you could just call United Airlines and ask them their policy on standby passengers. It'd be the same toll-free number as reservations, and you'd just want to speak to a reservations agent.

From the United website:

As of December 1, 2005, you can confirm a seat on an alternate flight on the same day of travel anywhere United flies within the United States and within four hours of the time of your request. If seats are available on an alternate flight, your change will be confirmed and you will be charged a $25.00 fee.

To request a Same-Day travel change, please contact a Customer Service Representative at the airport check-in counter or call 1-800-United1 (1-800-864-8331).

Thanks for the help. With 4 of us flying, I would prefer to pay the $25/each and know we all have seats together.

Thanks!

Umm... The $25 does nothing to get you seats together. It gets you on the plane!!! Standby's get the last seat assignments and four together would be very rough on lots of flights I am on.
