I am still pretty new to flying...only flown once for our last trip to WDW and I can't remember what I did.

Going in a week and I am a little confused...for our travel toiletries (deodorant, perfume, shave gel, etc.)...I know you are supposed to put them in a quart size zip lock bag and they have to be 3.4 oz. or less...and you get one bag per person...but do they still screen them if I put them in a checked bag? Do I have to pull them out of my checked bag and put them in the bin for screening or do I only do that if they are going in a carry on? I can't remember.

Same for razors - I know razors are supposed to go in a checked bag - but do I have to pull them out or anything or do anything special or do they just see them when they scan the bag?

Just want to make everything as easy as possible so we can get in and out! The worst is having three kids and feeling like I'm taking forever to go through security - so embarrassing! :)

Thanks!

There are no limitations for liquids/gels etc going into your checked bags. You can pack full size bottles if going into the checked bags. It's only for your carry on bags that you have to limit sizes. Your checked bags will be handed over long before you get to security. Just be sure any leakables are securely wrapped up in those checked bags. Nothing special needs to be done for razors.
If you are planning on carrying liquids/gels in your carry on bag, then yes, they have to be 3.4 oz or less, and in a qt sized ziploc baggie. Each person gets to have one baggie. That baggie would have to come out at security..unless you get put in the preferred line..but don't worry about that.

Oh awesome! I was stressing over trying to find sunblock in a travel size!! That is such a relief! We only checked one bag last trip and everything else was carry on so I think that's why I have this stuck in my head.

Thanks so much!! ;)

With ONE kid it feels like it takes forever. But it's not a kid thing, really, it's just multiplication. And then you add the fact that kids don't always have the ability to put things up there on their own, or need reminding, etc, so it feels like you're doing it all. I try to look behind me, and if there's a solo traveler behind me I just urge them to go ahead while we get all our bins and such.

Deodorant! If it's a solid, and not one of those squeeze-up-through-holes gel, it doesn't have to go in the baggie. It's perfectly fine on its own.

Razors! If you're using a "shaver", a modern type of thing with a cartridge, not a single, proper, scary, razor blade, it's perfectly fine to go in carryon. So if you're using a Venus, or Bic, or Hydro or Quattro, or the umpteen million other brands of modern types of things with the cartridge that easily pops in and out that we use to shave nowadays, you're golden.

But if you're using a handle that you slot a proper razor blade into (weirdly still called a "safety razor", but then compared to a straight razor it IS safer!), then THAT blade cannot be carried on. And, of course, no straight razors, either. (or samurai swords, if you google razors and TSA and get the funny TSA blog article about the topic)

As for 3.4 oz sunscreens...especially with 4-5 travelers...you could always buy some 3.4 oz (100 mL) bottles (that are marked with that amount!) and decant it. I generally have a baggie filled with smaller bottles of sunscreen because I like carrying those into the parks more than a big bottle. My son doesn't really use a lot of toiletries, so that sort of spillover generally happens in "his" baggie. :)

I believe it!! I always get hot and red faced when I screw up and the people aren't always nice who work at the airport and get irritated with us who don't know what we're doing quickly! I thought I had everything all prepared last trip but I was still a fumbling bumbling mess! We got through it though. :)

Awesome and good to know - thank you!

Great! Using the cheapie $1 plastic razors...just taking enough for the trip and not even opening the bag...

I think being fall now there aren't any travel sunscreens anywhere near me, but great to know I can just bring a bigger bottle with me, they are all sale now!

Thanks again for the help!

OH I truly mean just buy the empty bottles, then pour the bigger bottle into the smaller bottles. I usually check a couple big bottles, too, LOL. I just want to make sure I'm covered (literally) in case my bags take a little vacation before arriving at WDW. If you have a Safeway or Vons store, look in the travel section for 99 cent bottles that are marked as 3.4 oz. Buy them, and put the sunscreen in those bottles. (obviously I'm talking lotion, not a spray sunscreen) Then use one of the kids' baggies and fill it up with 3.4 bottles of sunscreen. Making sure those bottles are marked with the oz, of course.

Target has empty travel bottles, too, but they aren't 99 cents last I checked.

for my liquids that go in my carry on, I use the bottles by Dot&Dot. They are leak-proof and TSA-approved. Very easy to refill and are squeezable. You can check them on Amazon.
