The player: just me this time. We are trying to regulate the insulin for a diabetic cat at home, and she's being very uncooperative, so my partner and I decided to take separate vacations this year. I get WDW for my birthday in December, and he gets DL at the Grand Californian Villas at the end of January.

The plan so far: Flying down 12/6 and back on 12/11. Got a great airfare, then tried to book a 1br Villa and couldn't get anything for the whole period. Took SSR for all but the first night and waitlisted that; it came through, so then waitlisted for BWV or BCV, but nothing yet. At least I have SSR for the whole time! Will be on the QSDP, with 1 splurge meal at Jiko to celebrate my 58th birthday (a day late, since I'll be at MVMCP on my birthday).

12/6: Arriving at MCO at Noon, so should be at the resort by 1:30 or so. Plan to do online checkin and give them my cell phone # to let me know when the room is ready. (Just assuming it will not be when I arrive.) Planning on a CS lunch at Artist's Palette (or maybe Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express at DD) while waiting for my room. Probably use a couple of snack credits for stuff to bring to the room, and fill my mug too. Once moved in, it's off to DS for EME to see the Osborne Lights and catch a few attractions. Dinner CS at Studio Catering Co. or Backlot Express.

12/7: Up for EMM at AK to do Everest a few times, get a snack breakfast at Kusafiri, do the Safari, ITTBAB, Dinosaur (and some other stuff too), lunch at Yak & Yeti's CS area, maybe a break at the room if needed, then afternoon/evening at Epcot to see the holiday decorations and Illuminations. CS Dinner at Yakitori House in the Japan pavilion.

12/8: My birthday! Up early for bus to DS to get Birthday gift card and button before rope drop, then to TSMM. Then grab a snack breakfast at Starring Rolls bakery (Butterfinger cupcake!), then do the rest of the DS things I like that I may have missed on the 6th. Late CS lunch at Contemo Cafe at Contemporary (and see if I can get a tour of BLT), then over to MK for the party Mickey is throwing me for my birthday. (Probably use a snack or two at the party.)

12/9: Epcot morning (probably not at rope drop) to early afternoon with CS breakfast at Sunshine Seasons in The Land and CS lunch at Harry Ramsden Fish 'n' Chips. Monorail to the Contemporary for the DVC Condo Assn. meeting from 2-4:30pm. Bus over to AK for EME (gotta ride Everest at twilight!), then to AKL (maybe try and see those villas too) for Jiko for my big dinner at 8:45. Bus to DD to walk (waddle?) to hotel.

12/10: Breakfast CS at Artist's Palette at SSR. Try and get to EMM at MK, snacking my way through the day, then over to the Boardwalk to go to the DVC Merry Member Mixer outside the International Gateway at Epcot, then into Epcot for another evening with Illuminations, with a CS dinner at the Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China pavilion.

12/11: My flight leaves MCO at 1:15pm, so I'll at least have time for CS breakfast at Artist's Palette and maybe a little shopping (use up those snack credits!) before catching the bus to the plane.

So, does this seem doable? I think so, but then, I'm not all there myself...:ccat:

What a great way to celebrate your birthday! Here's hoping you have tons of fun :goodvibes

We'll be there at the same time! I'm going solo for the first 3 days, then my cousin is joining me for the rest of the week.

My favorite Disney day ever was on my birthday a few years ago. I went up to have my pic taken with Mickey and Goofy. Mickey noticed my button and had their handler (or whatever you call he cm that stays with the characters) call everyone over to sing Happy Birthday to me. I hope you have a magical birthday there as well!

Terri

It should be fun, even though I've only done WDW without my other half once before. (I used to solo at DL all the time when I lived in L.A., so I know I'll be all right.) I do need to make sure I get a picture of me in a party hat with a cupcake with one candle, sitting all alone, so that I can send it to him...:rotfl:

Edited a few things, and added the DVC member party back in. I did a sample menu appraisal of the food costs, and it looks like I'll save at least $35 by doing the QSDP; good for a couple of t-shirts at least!

What a perfect way to spend a birthday... Ok.. having your partner there would be more perfect but still... it is Disney and your cat is a family member too....

We stayed at SSR our last stay and my DP was very suprised at how much she liked it. She is a die-hard AKL person but found that she was drawn to Downtown Disney and finally took a minute or two to enjoy it!

Wear your birthday button the whole time! Makes it fun to hear Happy birthday from everyone! Even little children told our DS happy birthday when he wore his. :rotfl2:

Yeah, she's definitely a part of the family:

I do like SSR, I just like being at BWV or BCV for the convenience of having 2 parks withing walking distance. Oh well, next time I'll book farther out!

I will wear my birthday button with pride! This is the 4th or 5th birthday I have spent at WDW, and most years MVMCP is on my birthday, so I get a party thrown in!

Your baby is adorable! Love how she OWNS that chair! :thumbsup2

I woke up at 4:14 making my packing list in my head... I think I might need a nap today. Need me to check on anything while I am there?
