my flight leaves at 910am
how early do i need to get there now?

according to boston.com its 2 hrs for domestic flights and 3 hrs for international flights

Hey from what I hear about Logan your bigger issue may be getting TO the airport.

i am not worried about that
i grew up in boston and my dad takes us the back way thru chelsea we never go near the tunnels

From the north there shouldn't be much trouble. My dad was just in/out of there 2 days back with my sister & family. He said he did it in just over an hour however they had an 11 am flight.

I believe the biggest delays are from the south.

I'd say 2 hours early should be fine.

I am coming fro salisbury and picking up my dad in malden
he will drop us at logan and tak our car back to his house

A few weeks ago I flew out of Logan and was pleasantly surprised that is was one of the easiest trips I have ever had. Drove in on a Friday about Noon from the West via Mass Pike to Storrow Drive to the Callahan Tunnel. I left my house VERY early anticipating problems and ended up sitting at my gate for 2 1/2 hours.

From what I gathered, the National Guard is being deployed to do a second sercurity screening of all pasengers before being allowed to board the plane. Just a thought....since it's basically easier to carry nothing to the gate except your ticket and ID, shouldn't this make the initial security screening go a bit quicker?????

Hi Kelly! We are leaving out of Logan on Sunday too at 9:10 (Jetblue)

My boyfriend just called the limo company and we were originally going to leave at 6:45 (it usually takes up an hour to get to Logan with no traffic) and the company said that they have been seeing waits of 3 or 4 hours and even up to 6 hours for people at the airport today in security.

I am hoping that it's because it happened today and by Sunday it should be a little more organized.

I'm sure the people that got up this morning to fly were not aware of all the things they couldn't bring and it's causing lots of backups. Hopefully they will straighten it out by Sunday (crossing fingers.....)

Why is the only place I am hearing about the Nat Guard being deployed Boston? I just went on the Atlanta media sites and nothing there...

I am leaving tomorrow out of Logan. Our flight is for 8:15 and our limo is picking us up at 4am now...I anticipate an hour to get there.....hopefully 3 hours is good enough!

Because our governor is going to run for President in 2008 and he wants to look presidential.

They just opened a ramp to help alleviate some of the congestion getting to Logan from the South. As for how long to get there, depends on what time you need to be there. 9AM or 5PM, the earlier the better. Weekends are usually ok. I would say same thing applies to security now - give yourself an extra 30-45 minutes just to be sure.

We leave next saturday (19th) and we'll have to see how things are then but we are usually in Logan 2 hours before. Granted that things have changed in the last day, but when we flew back in April it was a breeze to get through Logan. MCO was another story! We were in line for well over an hour - and that was without a terror threat so I can only imagine what it will be like there now. Make sure you leave enough time on your flight back.

Personally, I will be VERY happy to see The National Guard at the airport! We flew shortly after 9/11 when they had armed patrols in the airport and I thanked everyone I saw.

I am getting very anxious about this upcoming trip. I hate to fly as it is and was already nervous about the tunnel problems, and now the plane issues....

Hope you have a great vacation!

Jill

The following week DH has a 12pm flight and is planning on leaving the house by 7am as his name is on "the airlines most wanted list!"

That should be plenty of time on Sunday morning. By this afternoon wait times were less than 15 minutes are most checkpoints. Still give yourself 2 hours because you never know...but things should be running smoothly by Sunday.
