I know the day before is crazy, has anyone ever flown out on Thanksgiving--- we're thinking about Thanksgiving 2008--- flying out on Thanksgiving morning and coming home Monday after--- does anyone know if the airports will be manageable, or should we avoid it all together? Thanks!

TDay is a great day to travel. Sunday and Monday will be very busy so arrive at the airport early.

Never flown to Orlando on Thanksgiving Day before, but have gone other places. Airports and planes were not at all crowded. Monday after is as busy as any other travel weekday, but at least you avoid the insanity of the wednesday before and the sunday after.

Thanks so much!!! I feel so much better, now! We're now planning on Thanksgiving day until Tuesday morning--- thank you!

I have flown every year on Thanksgiving for several years. IMHO it gets more crowded every year. When I first started doing it, the planes were empty, now they are full. (I do fly in the early morning so it might get better later on)

However, it's not as crazy as Wed, but it's still a fairly busy day.

I've flown to Orlando a number of times Thanksgiving Day, and we're flying there again this year. My daughters have to fly home the Monday after, and their return airfare is much higher than ours, returning home Tuesday after the holiday. The cheaper fares tend to be later in the day on the holiday.

With the exception of last year I have flown out of either Boston or Providence to Orlando for the last five years on the holiday, generally early morning. I love it. The prices are much lower, the crowds much less, and I don't get stuck cleaning the house, buying the groceries, stuffing the bird, doing the dishes, and being po'd at everyone that's watching the football game while I'm in the kitchen:rotfl2: Hope you find the airfare prices as good as I always have.

We are flying out of Philly on Thanksgiving to Orange County.

We haven't flown in years and it'll be our son's first time flying so we are hoping it goes well! :goodvibes

Thanksgiving has usually been among the slowest travel days of the year, and ditto for Christmas.

We flew out of PHL last year noonish. Our valet from the car park told us the early morning had been a ZOO. But by the time we got there it was not bad at all.

We're actually flying home on T'gviving into Newark. I hope it's not too crazy-LOL!

I know Southwest flies a reduced flight schedule on Thanksgiving - there aren't as many flights available as on other days. Not sure if other airlines also reduce the # of flights. Just something to keep in mind. Not a big deal, but you may not have as many flight times to choose from.
