I'll be going to WDW twice in 2002. May 8-13 and Sept 22-29. I'll be flying out of EWR (Newark, NJ) both trips on Delta. (Found GREAT rates on the internet!). In May, my flight leaves at 7 a.m. In Sept, it's 6:30 a.m. If you've flown out of Newark lately, are they allowing curbside check in? How early did you arrive before take off? I'll be checking all bags - just bringing on my purse. Will that expedite my security check?

Glad your excited!

But i think you'll need to check back a little closer to your departure date- maybe a few weeks or a month prior. In any event call the airline right before. They might change the procedures MANY times prior to may- even the day before you plan to leave.

In any event- taking the minimal carry on would seem to be prudent- at least for now.

I think mikek is right -- knowing the current conditions at Newark airport will do little to help you plan for a trip 7 months from now.

But since you asked, I flew out of EWR last week on business and experienced no problems. In fact, I heeded all the warnings about getting there early and ended up sitting at the gate for 90 minutes with nothing to do. No curbside check-in as far as I could tell. I didn't check any bags so I experienced minimal delays. In fact, with an e-ticket and no bags to check you can go right to the gate.

This was last tuesday for a flight departing at about 2:30 p.m.

I flew out of Newark on 10/28 and, unlike Pete's experience, it was a mess. This was on a late Sunday afternoon - not exactly peak time for travelers.

We were in Terminal A, which includes United and I'm not sure who else. Lines moved slowly, and inevitably people were pulled out of the security line to cut to the front as their flight time approached.

Also at United, *everyone* had to go through the main check-in line, including those checking no bags.

This may change entirely in the months ahead, but for now, UAL in terminal A at EWR is a royal pain.

Just got back used Continentall which is the dreaded terminal C!!!

curbside checkin went very smooth, security lines were fine. Our flights were at 8am on teacher's convention weekend and it was pretty fast.

Coming back out of FLL was worse, very long lines everywhere.

I like Delta but they've done away with their nonstops to all the FL cities. So I'm using Continental and US Air out of Phil.
