Folks,

I'm giving serious consideration to flying out of Buffalo for our weeklong trip home to SSR on January 4. The airfares are already $200+ less/person. Why not turn to the DISBoard for help? Recommendation of Buffalo airport hotels; seeking clean and comfortable with parking and airport shuttle would be nice.

I, too was going to fly out of Buffalo. If you search this board there is some great info on the things you need to know.

That being said we found flights out of YYZ with Air Transat for our upcoming trip in Sept for $274 incl all taxes. That was the cheapest I've ever seen, last trip paid $425 each. To us the difference wasn't worth the little bit of savings in this case.

If you don't find a great rate out of YYZ then you could try the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Buffalo Airport. They offer a park and fly package of $89.00 plus tax per room per night which includes overnight accommodations, complimentary parking while you are away, complimentary airport shuttle and complimentary continental breakfast. There is also an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi and fitness center.
I recently wrote an email inquiring about leaving our car there is we were to fly out of Buffalo and the GM of the hotel is very courteous, very accomodating and very helpful.

Good Luck.

Last Nov we stayed at Homewood Suites in Buffalo which is a quick 3 minute drive to airport. They had a shuttle to take us and pick us up. The rooms are lovely with a full kitchen and separate LR. The pool was also great. They have a wonderful hot and cold buffet in the mornings which was perfect for us. They allow you to park your car in their lot for up to 2 weeks. Their park and fly program was $99/night. For us it was a good deal!

On Friday we are heading back to Buffalo for another flight to Orlando, but since we don't leave until noon, we're just going to drive straight from Toronto in the morning and park in the airport parking lot for $38.00/week. Jo

DH flies to BUF weekly, and stays at the Holiday Inn & Suites (the same as OntarioDisneyWoman recommended)
They are really nice there, it's really close to the airport, and DH loves their beds!

We have twice stayed at the Holiday inn express on Buell Ave for $89/night and it is excellent. Brand new so the rooms are very clean and the shuttle service was there to pick us up in under 5 min. both trips.

I knew I could count on the DISBoards to help steer me in the right direction. Flying out of YYZ is old hat for me, but a new airport can put even the most experienced traveller into a state of confusion and wonderment. HIExpress is a good choice -- I get the FF points with them and the rate is perfect too.

Hello Royal Cdn:

I must strongly agree with Jo-Anne here....(and I'll admit I'm a hotel snob due to frequent travel on business) your best bet in Buff Arpt area is the Homewood Suites....a cut above the HIExpress (although I acknowledge the new construction HIExpress' can be quite comfortable too).

You can earn Hilton points with your stay, you will be guaranteed a suite, the appointments in the room are a cut above, and the free breakfast is better.

Also, I think what you said about airports may apply to Cdn airports, where signage seems to be generally terrible. You will find the Buffalo Airport to be a very pleasant experience....it's well-laid out, very functional, impossibly clean and bright, has fast food/sit-down restaurants available, not possible to get lost in my opinion. I try to avoid Toronto Airport at all costs in favor of Buffalo...although I heard a new terminal opened in Toronto and really should check it out!

Just returned at 3:30 a.m. from a two week disney stay. Stayed the night before at Holiday Inn Express, loved it. Got a AAA rate of 78.99, including the breakfast. Nice clean facilities. Shuttled across the street to airport. Airport was a breeze, no confusion. Highly recommend this route.

Hilton HHonors points are good too. I'll admit that I was recently spoiled with passage through CDG and MUC airports where signage was abundantly clear -- everything was signed, although we endured confusion when Air France told us we were arrived at T2F @ CDG, and we actually arrived at T2C and we were scheduled to depart from T2D and were bussed to a completely different section of the airport. The only way we figured that one out was by noting that T2C was the only terminal not listed on the direction board. :p I arrived home to T3 @ YYZ where gates are not clearly marked in departures and even fewer signs posting info in arrivals.

I look forward to adding BUF to my life list of airports -- regardless of what airline I might fly out of there. All the airfares and schedules I have seen, so far, look beautiful when compared to the Canadian airfares and especially the charter schedules.
