Okay, my best friend has quite a dilemma, and I was hoping someone here can help her with some info. She lost her ID and is flying out early tomorrow am. Now this is not the first time she has lost it.(Its an ongoing joke- this happens alot to her credit cards as well) She has found a very old expired ID(It expired 2000), and was wondering if Jetblue will accept this. I checked the website for her and it states: "Adults (18 yrs. old or older) are required by law to present a government issued photo ID at check-in." She is literally tearing our apartment up right now hoping to find it, but I have a feeling it was lost last night at a show. Anyone know if they will allow her to board with the expired ID? thanks

It's not boarding that will be a problem, it's getting through the security checkpoint. I believe she will be subjected to a full screening, which means wanding, luggage inspection.

People lose their ID all the time - it's a PITA, but they will let you on the plane. Get to the airport *early* with every bit of ID you do have - work/school ID, medical card, library card, whatever. Go to your airline, explain what happened, and they will review your stuff and issue you a note to get through security. TSA may, or may not subject you to additional screening (I've seen it go both ways.) Then be prepared to go through the same hoops on the way back.

The airline may not let her check in, let alone TSA. I had a similar situation recently with Song. I don't have a driver's license, but I do have a state issued ID card that looks like a driver's license. It had expired in December but I didn't realize this. I went to check in in February and they wouldn't accept that as a valid gov't issued ID. I only had that, a couple of credit cards and a health benefit card on me. Luckily my mom had dropped off my DS and I right before this and in her car was my winter coat and in there was my work ID. I work for the federal gov't so it's gov't issued ID. My mom drove back to the airport and I was able to check in with that. TSA barely glanced at either ID. In Orlando, Song didn't give me a hard time, but TSA really scrutinized both IDs.
