Flying Jetblue in Aug.....

I am planning on flying Jetblue in Aug 2011 and am wondering when is the best to book?

Not sure about prices out of Boston, but we have flown out of Syracuse, New York, on jetBlue twice in the last two years and have found their best prices to be "right out of the gate."

They should open up their computers for August flights about 6 months abead of time.

For our last two trips, I have booked the flights on the first day the computers opened up for our intinerary dates. Then I kept an eye on the prices to see if they would drop before our departure date, and they did not.

If the prices do drop, you can phone jetBlue and get a credit towards a future flight (if you fly within one year).

You might ask someone on this site who has flown jetBlue out of your home airport (is it Logan in Boston?) what his or her experience is with jetBlue bookings and prices.

JetBlue's prices for Aug have been out for quite sometime now. I would go to their site and check out your dates ASAP. The lowest prices are usually offered when they are first released.

I purchased our airfare going down this August - $97 which I thought was good. I am waiting on the fares back..the are high ($200) and haven't budged..I am going to wait a little and see a little bit longer. If they go down, then I'll just have a credit for a future flight.

I've been watching my August fares and the only direction they have gone lately is UP.

I agree with others. If you want JetBlue's lowest prices, you need to be able to book the day they are first released. After that they usually only go up. We fly JetBlue a lot and have had prices drop in only one circumstance and that involved an extremely expensive flight over xmas.

This year, we weren't able to book right away and by the time we looked, flights for our dates were over $400 pp rt. We are flying Delta instead. Delta is pricing much lower this year than both JetBlue and Southwest.

I just recently booked JetBlue into Fort Lauderdale for August, for cruise, because when they were first released 2 months ago they were skyhigh, and only recently came down ($454 pp roundtrip 2 months ago, and only $250 now). Maybe the pricing is different because it is Ft. Laud. instead of Orlando.

Checked the airfare again this morning and the flights back I was watching went up $20. That's fine for only 3 tix, but I have to get 6 so I bit the bullet and purchased them. Going down was 97, coming back was 203! I hope they come down and I'll get a credit for another trip, but at least they aren't going to rise anymore (for me at least). I don't know why coming back is so much more, but at least we have tix now.

We travelled from Portland, Maine to Orlando last August and found the cheapest price was about 8-6 weeks prior to our trip (even cheaper than when the flights opened up). We fly almost exclusively JetBlue now about 4-5 times per year and that is almost always the cheapest time to book for us. Exceptions to that rule for my area would be Feb. vacation, April vacation and Christmas week. It is a gamble though. You will likely have all of the rest of your trip planned and maybe paid for, so you're always fearing that prices will only go up! Good luck!

I find the same to be true flying Newark to Orlando. Usually if I purchase when they first open I end up with a credit 2-3 months out.

I always do this, but this trip was planned after they were released. I guess I'll just wait for the price to drop, grab the credit, and book another trip
