Flying into Sanford International

So, checking airfare rates right now for plan making for next year, I found a very reasonable rate going into Sanford from Lansing, MI. Now I know the airport is a ways out compared to downtown. But saving $600+ is really appealing. Anyone else fly into Sanford? Experiences?

I flew into Sanford in January of this year. It was SUPER easy. It's not a big airport and, thus, it's not hard to find anything. Renting a car from there was easy, too...it was a quick walk from the airport terminal to the building where the car rentals were.

Upon return, we got to the airport WAY too early...security moved along pretty fast there.

All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and I'd happily do it again.

I am really reconsidering going back to Sanford and flying out of the smaller airports. It's the security lines. Also, all the walking to get to the gates. The Allegiant fares had brought me through there lat Fall. After my recent trip, I am going to add in the extra driving time or stay nearby the night before flying out.
The one issue I had was finding a cart or service to help with my bags when we got off, and getting them from baggage claim. I was spoiled by ME.

I loved flying into Sanford. It's a great airport...very user friendly. The only thing you have to consider is transportation. The cost for a car service from Sanford to WDW is running around $200. You can rent a car there and drive yourself though. The drive is pretty straightforward! Takes about an hour.

We planned on having a car anyways, after the last trip of being at the hospital constantly, we like the idea of being able to move at our pace and not waiting for a cab/bus and so on.
