Hi all,

we were scheduled to fly US Airways today at 5pm from Logan to Orlando but our flight was cancelled. We're told nothing will be going in or out today. And all flights into Orlando and Tampa are sold out for tomorrow. So...

we took 4 seats to Gainesville tomorrow morning. We've never flown into there before. We'll rent a car and drive to Orlando.

Any experience with Gainesville?
Any idea how the roads are between Gainesville and Orlando after the storm? any idea how to find out?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have flown in there years ago.

As I recall it is a fairly small airport.

I understand interstates are open so you might just want to go that way rather then backroads where trees may still be down.

I used to live there. (went to school at uf) The airport is really small, it's just has one terminal. You never have to wait more than 10 mins for your bags to go through because only one flight come in at a time!! There is a budget counter there and the drive from gainesville to orlando is very simple.

Just get on I-75 and it takes about 1 hr 30 mins. Depending how fast you drive. Just get directions before hand.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that's just what I needed to hear! Looks like a simple drive.

We occasionally go out of Manchester, NH up here and it is also a very small regional. But it is a pleasure to go in and out of just for that reason.
