Flying home through Vancouver

hoping some of you that have done this can help. We've done a day room at the Hyatt at MCO post cruise due to a later flight. There you can check in 4 hours pre flight and drop off luggage. Then, closer to flight to,e just take carry one and go through security to gate.

I currently have a day room at the Vancouver airport booked after our Alaskan cruise. My question is if it works the same there? Will I be able to check in and drop off luggage four hours preflight and then just do security and customs with only carryons? From what I've read, we need a longer time preflight for the extra steps of customs and immigration at YVR.

Just trying to figure out how it works.

I would suggest asking the hotel you have the room at. They may vary a lot.

Contacting the hotel is a good idea. If you can find a main phone number for YVR that might be good, or even a phone number for YOUR airline at YVR if possible, to see what time baggage can be checked. Alas I've never flown out of Canada so I don't know. And my memories of leaving Canada by train aren't recent enough, and I don't know if they are relevant anyway!

You could ask on the Transportation forum. Tons of knowledgeable people there who might not take Disney cruises and therefore aren't "here".

I live in Vancouver so have never tried to drop off luggage early - i think it would depend on your airline and my tentative guess if you are crossing the border back into the US is that you won't be able to. But if you're going to head there four hours early to drop off luggage, I wonder whether it wouldn't be a bit faster to just arrive around two hours early for your flight. It's true that you need to allow some extra time but usually two hours is more than enough.
