Does anyone know if a round trip price of 290 USD is a good price? We usually fly out of toronto so I am not sure if we would be saving anything. We are a family of 5
. They are both nonstop flights. Thanks!

Yes that's a good price.
I live in WNY and fly out of BUF nonstop every time with SWA and anything $300 or less round trip is a decent price in my opinion.
Its very very very rare to have a one way flight for less than $132 with Southwest from BUF to MCO and I was able to snag one for $83 for my trip in a couple weeks.
The way home was $202 but I used points so I got what I'd consider an amazing price for my upcoming round trip.

$290 out of Buffalo on SW is okay. My threshold is $250 out of Buffalo for my family of four. Otherwise, we drive.

Could I ask what airline you generally use and what time of year and what time of day you generally fly?
I tell ya I cannot find anything for that price round trip anymore and SWA tends to be the cheapest one.

We generally look for flights for mid/late August and December over the holidays. We only fly SW. A few years ago we always booked when flights were released, but I've found them pricey on release dates. In mid April (this year) I found direct flights down for our August dates, $69 down and $119 back. Great deal! :thumbsup2 We ended up driving anyways. But the deals are out there, especially if you can be flexible with your dates. You just have to keep checking.

Unfortunately we cannot be flexible because my sister is a teacher :(
The times we can be flexible is the times we just end up driving because we have longer and can do other fun things as well lol.
I think there is something to playing the waiting game for some flights but not for others.
For this trip we booked airfare only about a month out because we didn't know we were going until that soon beforehand lol. I think maybe they had such a cheap flight there before they were having a hard time filling that particular flight.
Our next trip after this one will be December 7-10 2018 (booking the FD BB so we don't have to worry about whether it will offered to the general public or not and when it will be released)
I find for nearing the holidays its better to purchase asap.
