Just too excited to keep to myself.. I just booked us roundtrip airfare via SW airlines for our upcoming trip to Disney for our FIRST visit to Disney during Christmas!!!

We are sooo excited :banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::santa:

Got a great $96.00 "wanna getaway" rate.. so we decided to splurge and go for it!!!

Now we'll be in Disney inside of 2 hours instead of driving for 11!!!!

But SHHHHHHH don't tell the boys.. it's going to be a Christmas Surprise!!!!

LIFE IS GOOD!!! :goodvibes

That's awesome :yay: that's a great price at holiday time! sounds

like MAGIC was working for you :thumbsup2

Good for you...Southwest's DING or Wanna Get Away fares have allowed for more than a few impromptu trips for our family.

Make sure you keep watching your fare, even though it's already good. We save a couple hundred each year rebooking our same confirmation numbers at lower rates if the fares drop. It's why we also book our round trips as two one-ways...if a DING comes along for one leg of the journey that's a big savings we buy it, cancel the original and use the credit for our next flight without disturbing the "other leg."

What a great surprise to skip the long car ride and get effectively two extra days at Disney!

When did you make your ressie? I've been in waitlist for Christmas for weeks now?

Coach's wife here: We had our BCV ressies done at 7months, but we were going to drive. Coach just found the flights and decided to go for it. We can't wait!!! We always wanted to do WDW at Christmas but didn't want to risk not doing alot because of the crowds. But thanks to DVC we go more often so we can go to WDW to see the decorations.

I am happy for the both of you. The boys are surely going to be surprised.

BTW, we decided to take the May trip, so I will be calling MS during my planning period tomorrow to cancel Mardi Gras and booking May with yall.

We reserved at our 11 month window at our home resort- SSR originally, then we switched to the BCV at the 7 month window with no problems. We LOVE our home resort, but we're on a mission to visit all DVC resorts. Can't wait to see BCV for Christmas!!!

Awesome.. Southwest has lowered their return flights even more!!! Now we have about $120.00 credit toward a future flight!!! Guess we'll just have to fly again :)

That's fantastic. Glad you were able to find a great deal that's going to make your trip all the more enjoyable.

You're going to love Disney at Christmas. We did our first Christmas trip last year, and walked around like this  for most of the week. There's just so much to see and do.

We had the same thoughts as you regarding the crowds -- we've been on the rides on other trips, let's see the Christmas decorations and enjoy the special Christmas events. We got around to all the deluxe and DVC resorts to see them bedecked for Christmas, got reservations for a Candlelight Processional package, visited the Osborne Family Lights at DHS, bought a gingerbread house at Grand Floridian, and viewed all the special Christmas parades and fireworks shows. During the seven days, I think we did 6-10 rides, max. It was an absolutely fantastic trip!

From a logistics perspective, the biggest difference for a Christmas trip over our other trips is that you have to pack both cold weather and warm weather clothes. We underestimated the cold, and didn't pack enough cold weather gear. During Christmas week last year, our first three days were very cold, and our last four days were very warm. We weren't ready for the "very cold" and spent the first hour of Epcot day in MouseWorks picking out sweatshirts and jackets. We also had lots of hot chocolate that night. By the end of the week, we were back in shorts and tank tops.

Woohoo, that's great! I used to love getting those SW credits when we used to fly from Maryland. :thumbsup2 You'll just have to use them now!

Thanks.. we certainly are! My wonderful wife was able to make all the ADRs we wanted within about 20 mins this past weekend (at 3 am.. ) while I "helped" by holding some paper. LOL

Going to need your help, Megan. I've come up with an awesome idea.. I'm going to surprise the kids with the news (If Alisa and I can hold out that long, it is getting tough) about the trip by using a "scavenger hunt". I'll have more details later.. but I would like to have them call you the night we tell them, so you can give them their next "clue". Would that be ok?
