Has anyone been to the Flying Fish recently? How was it? I have been reading some less-than-encouraging reviews lately. ALSO: Is it possible to only order one entree for 2 people? I know how we eat... given our druthers, we'd order an appetizer and salad for one of us, and an entree (DD's eyeing the scallops) for the other. I honestly probably wouldn't even finish the mussels and a salad, much less a full entree. Just wondering.

We had dinner there on August 8th as a group of 6. 5 of the 6 of us had AMAZING dinners. My mom wasnt thrilled with hers but said it was probably an ordering issue vs a food prep issue.

Our Ratings of Flying Fish: (*rev 5/11/2015*)

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Crispy Crab Cake (very good, but not as good as Maryland Crab Cakes)
. . . entree:.. Maine Sea Scallops, Rainbow Trout
. . . dessert:. Caramelized Banana Napoleon
.
NOTE: Per Disney, on average, Flying Fish is the most expensive eatery at WDW on a
revenue-per-capita basis (even more revenue per person than Victoria & Albert's). Service
is pretty good, but not commensurate with price. Snapper for $36 and beef for $42 should
be fantastic, and not only just average. It should be accompanied with superb service and
a super atmosphere. That is why the price value only is "C", where it could have been an
easy "B". It must also be noted that one needs to bring a sweater/jacket - temperature is
kept near that of the North Pole.

We were there late May. Delicious as always!

You can absolutely split a meal. We do it everytime we go (and we go to FF everytime we go to WDW!) :) The servers have never blinked an eye about it.

Typical meal for the 2 of us: mussels appetizer (it's HUGE), split the snapper, and artisanal cheeses for dessert.

Oh, the artisanal cheese plate is so good!!

Let me start by saying we eat out a lot more then we probably should. I always keep an open mind when eating at Disney restaurants. We always go in September, always have free dining so have tried to stick to the 1 table service restaurants, which there are a lot of great ones that we enjoy, out there. Since this was a husband and myself only trip, we decided to try Flying Fish. We were there September 11 and it was so amazing that we went back this past Sunday. They had a 5:30 reservation open and we cancelled Rain Forest Cafe to go there. We each got a salad and then split an entree the second time so we only use two table service credits. Our food was amazing, maybe we just ordered right! But I will say our service was impeccable and both servers had been there for a long time and could tell they liked where they worked. It will now be a must do for us from now on. We had the tomato salad (AMAZING) both times and the second time we split the crab cakes which we liked better then any Maryland Crab cakes we have had. People all have different tastes but for us, they were that good. First time I had the potato crusted snapper and strip steak, my husband had the scallops and risotto. SEcond time, we split the scallops, so very good. I hope you go and have a great meal.
