Flying Fish

DH just read a review of the Flying Fish and says it sounds great. How about an opinion from someone who has eaten there. Is it a 2 TS charge? Which is better, Narcoosees or Flying Fish? Dang, I'm hungry now. Can't get to WDW fast enough to suit me. TIA

There are lots of debates on the boards about Flying Fish vs Narcoossee's. In our experience (last year), Narcoossee's had better, food, service, atmosphere, and overall value for the experience. This doesn't mean that FF was bad - I'd say Narcoossee's was an 8.5, Flying Fish was probably an 8. I think both are in my reviews (link in signature)

For what it is worth, bluezoo at the Dolphin is a 9+ for us. IMO definitely the best seafood on property. It is a much quieter, more romantic restaurant, but also has a New York metro type feel. However, it is not on the dining plan, and I believe you were asking about TS credits, so this may not work for you. We also reviewed this one last year.

I don't think you can go wrong, but I'd go Narcoossee's.

And I'd say the opposite, both were good, but our Flying Fish meal was much better than our Narcoossee's meal! I don't think you will go wrong with either.

I ate at the FF in December & it was fabulous! If it's just 2 of you, request a seat at the Chef's Bar. It overlooks the kitchen & the chefs interact with you throughout your meal. I really enjoyed that, and it turned out the chef closest to us grew up just 30 min. from where we live. I wasn't on the dining plan so I have no idea how many it counts as. Here are some pics:

Every meal at FF has been better than every meal at Narcoosees (we've done both several times).


But bluezoo is better than both.

Is Flying Fish 2 TS credits, same as Narcoosees? I find myself being very stingy with those TS credits. ha

We ate there last Oct and it was awesome! Cannot wait to eat there again this year!

FF is 2 credits. All of these places are very, very good, but IMO Fultons (fka Empress Lily) is the best seafood restaurant at Disney - another person another opinion!

It's been probably three years since our last visit, but we really enjoyed FF. I can't compare it to Narcoosee's, but I can say our fmaily strongly liked FF better than the other siggie we dined at in March: Cali Grill.

The first time I dined at FF (probably 2001/2002?), they had an amazing chocolate lava cake. They made a big deal about it then, and you had to wait extra for it. It was outstanding! WE also enjoyed the tuna sashimi stack appetizer.

When we went back the second time, the lava cake was no longer there. So DH and I had a great meal, but were slightly disappointed when it came time for dessert. (We've since searched in vain for one as good.)

The third time I dined there with family and they all enjoyed it. I recall a pumpkin ravioli (Or maybe butternut squash?) that were outstanding and very tender.

I like the decor. It's fesitve with the location.

FF,
The pumpkin pasta they had was the best vegetarian entree I've ever eaten.
They have a great cheese tray.
Desserts are awesome.
It can be crowded and noisy at times.
Not one of the many friends we've eaten with there has ever had anything but complimentary things to say about the food.

I have been to FF many times (most recently in Feb 2009), but I won't give my opinion. Rather I would say that if you have never been to FF and the menu looks good to you, give it a try and decide for yourself!
