Dh and I are going for a birthday weekend in February, just the two of us, no kids. We are staying at BWI and are so excited. We have never tried either restaurant, which do you suggest? Thanks!

Flying Fish is our favorite. They have more seafood than Yachtsman, however, I believe they serve the best steak in Disney World.

Flying Fish is my favorite of Disney's signatures that are on the dining plan; Yachtsman ranks 6th.

We've been to both, and I really thought we would all prefer Flying Fish over Yachtsman. While we enjoy steak, the menu at Flying Fish is just more interesting to us.

But in our experience, the atmosphere at Yachtsman is far more relaxing, the service is better and the food - well, I think the quality of the food at Yachtsman compensated for the fact that the menu wasn't as interesting to us as Flying Fish. Again, I fully expected to prefer Flying Fish - the whole place just seemed more our style - but we were pleasantly surprised by Yachtsman and would definitely return. (For reference, some of our other favorites are Jiko, California Grill, Le Cellier, La Hacienda and Via Napoli.)

We also considered these two for our trip last month and decided on Yachtsman.

I've never been to FF (it's a must next time), so I can only comment on Yachtsman: service was stellar, atmosphere was nice but relaxed and that's what we were looking for - not stuffy, but the food...very good, but not great. Our steaks were huge, flavored/seasoned extremely well, but the cut was kind of tough - not bad mind you, but not worth $44 per steak. I think Ruth's Chris is better than what you get at Yachtsman.

I really like both, but Flying Fish has a slight edge over Yachtsman for me. The food is more original and creative at Flying Fish, but sometimes it nice to just have a good steak, prepared well.

Flying Fish is a more unique experience.....but if you're undecided, I'd flip a coin. I alternate visits between all the signatures except Narcoossee's. Some I like more than others, but I still like them all enough to keep going back.

Well..difference in opinion here (isn't that what makes things great?!!)

We thought Flying Fish was WAY overrated...to the tune of worst signature restaurant on property. If you're looking for great seafood, go to Bluezoo which is a couple hundred yards away in the Dolphin resort. It's one of the few meals I've ever eaten on WDW property that I thought was just plain bad..it wasn't a service or atmosphere issue..just preparation.

With that said, I'd pick Yachtsman 100% of the time over Flying Fish.

Duplicate post...Really DISboards...3am and you're timing out?

We would definitely choose Flying Fish over Yachtsman. We have been to YSH 3 times and never again. The setting was lovely and the service was great, we just didn't like the food.
A thought. You may want to make the ADR soon. Folks have been booking for months now and you may find your choice limited by availability.

Unless some variety in steak selections is important, I'd pick FF everytime!!!

I think you'll be fine at either, although if it were me, I'd do Flying Fish. We have been there three times and have found the food, drinks and service always a little better than our past trips to YSH. FFC has become a "must" for us every trip, whereas the YSH has become a "must" only if we are tied to eating at DDP restaurants.

No 1. Non-DDP Seafood Restuarant Bluezoo @ the Dolphin
No. 1 Non-DDP Steakhouse Shula's @ the Dolphin

No. 1 DDP Seafood Restaurant Flying Fish (although DH had the NY Strip there and said it was awesome)
No. 1 DDP Steakhouse YSH.
