Hi.
I am planning a trip for friends, a couple both in their 60s, that haven't been to Disney in over 35 years.
They will be staying at the BW.
I booked Flying Fish for their first evening since they have a very early flight that day and want to keep them around the BW, not getting on buses, etc.
Would you recommend Flying Fish. I was there about 3 years ago and enjoyed it very much but my dh said it was "just okay".
I told my friends not to expect gourmet but it's good restaurant. I don't want them to go to Shulas or Yachtsman, too much for the first evening.

Would you suggest the Flying Fish? They don't want a buffet (I mentioned Cape May LOL).

Thank you.

We did not like Flying Fish. It was an overly expensive, mediocre dinner that took about 3 hours to get through (service was terrible). If they want to stay at BWI to eat, I would suggest Trattoria al Forno. It's good and more casual than FF. If they aren't on the dining plan and are willing to walk a little, Il Mulino at Swan has better Italian food and bluezoo at Dolphin is also excellent. If they have park tickets, they could simply walk into EP WS to eat (it's very close, closer than walking to Cape May!). Rose and Crown, Monsieur Paul (which is excellent!) and Chefs des France (which isn't great, IMHO) are very close to the IG entrance near BWI.

Last November we thought it was good not great. Mainly due the price. Just curious, why would going across the lake to Shulas or Yachtsman be too much for a couple in their 60's. It's a short boat ride.

We loved it before the new menu. Was on the top of our list. We went a few weeks ago and won't be returning. The new decor though is beautiful.

It’s one of our most favorite restaurants on property, both before and after the refurb.

Thank you all.
I didn't mean they couldn't walk, I thought it going to Shula or Yachtsman would be a big dinner the first night when they arrive.
Haven't eaten yet at Trattoria al Forno. Does that get good reviews? Wondering if I should even just send them to the brewery.

We just got back from our trip and had a terrific dinner there last week. I had the salmon and my husband had the veal chop. Everything from appetizers, drinks and desserts were delicious. Beautiful decor too. I highly recommend it.

Did a dining review on our recent visit to FF here on the boards.

In short, FF was the best service I've ever had along with the best steak. The salmon was also incredible. If your friends go, do not forgo the pork belly appetizer; it is amazing.

I didn't like Trattoria al Forno, I found the food comparable to frozen Italian like Stouffers. Everyone has different opinions and mine is that Flying Fish is much better.

We've eaten at Trattoria a few times and it's fine (Il Mulino is better). The food at Big River isn't good at all, IMHO. We didn't really like FF, but it was certainly better than Big River Grill!
