Flying Europe to US - luggage fee question

We will be flying from Barcelona to Orlando (via Miami) on American Airlines. Their website says that on flights from Europe, the first checked bag is free ($25 on domestic flights).

Our flight has a 3+ hour layover/plane change in Miami. I know that we have to retrieve our luggage/go thru customs/and check in again for the 2nd leg of the flight.

Will we now have to pay for our checked luggage, since we are now on a domestic flight and had to check in again?

Since it is on the same itinerary, I would guess no baggage fee to continue your flight within the US. Usually when you "re-check" bags after passport control, you just hand it to a baggage person, you don't really "check-in" again.

No, you should not have to pay. It is all considered your international trip.
