Flying and sickness?

OK, my DD, 11, has flown many, many times. Unfortunately, on our last trip to Disney she ended up throwing up as we decended into the airport. Ughhhhh, what a mess. On the flight home, she really had to focus on not throwing up again. It is really strange as she had never thrown up on a flight before.

We leave in about 6 weeks for Disney and she is freaking out about flying again. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks for your help.

Well, if it is motion sickness, she should be able to take something called Bonnie. I use it and it works very well with out making you sleepy. On the other hand, Dramamine can knock you out for the entire flight and you can wake her up when you are pulling into the gate to disembark. This worked great for my DS and since we had to get up early to travel he woke up refreshed and ready to go. DH and I on the other hand were not! :)

It's called Bonine, not Bonnie :thumbsup2

I have one of the worst cases of motion sickness. Just looking at an airplane makes me want to vomit. I always take Dramamine and it works to a degree. I end up feeling really "out of it" but sometimes I still get very nauseated and dizzy towards the end of the flight.

Have your child sit by the window so she can see out. Make sure you are sitting in a row where the wing is not blocking her sight of forward motion. When the plane starts to descend have her look out the window the entire time - NO reading, looking over to talk to others, etc...

I get horribly motion sick and this is the only thing that helps me. If I turn away from the window for even a moment I get green. :crazy2:

Also be sure she doesn't do any reading until after the plane reaches the cruising altitude - this will help keep the nausea at bay too.

Good luck! If all else fails, there are motion sickness bags in the seatback pockets. Make sure when you board the plane that your seats have them. If not then be sure to ask the flight attendant for a few extras "just in case".
