Can you take those fruit pouches that Gerber and other companies make through sercurity? My daughter will be 19 months when we go and thought those would be an easy snack for her.

Thanks!
Ashley

I don't think it will work. For the TSA, they would be considered a liquid since they would not hold their form outside of the container. I checked and it appears the pouches are labelled as 3.5 ounces. To get through security, you are only allowed liquids of 3.4 ounces or less that in total will fit in a 1 quart ziplock bag. You could put a few of the pouches in your 1 quart ziplock and hope the TSA doesn't raise the issue of their being 3.5 ounces instead of 3.4 ounces, but do you really want to take the chance you would have to toss them at the security checkpoint?

Food for a 19 month old would not be granted the same exceptions as formula for a baby.

As long as it is unopened, you can travel with pretty much any kind of snack like that. I took pudding cups and applesauce pouches for DS5 when we were flying this summer.

We travel through LAX and it's pretty strict.

Just put the baby food pouches in a quart size bag, and separate it out for screening. If they take it out, they'll probably make you taste it. If not, just pick it up and go.

I've brought "Elmo" juice boxes through tons of times this way. They know what it is and as long as it's below the standard 4 ounce size they don't really care. At least in all the times I've traveled (which is alot).

I had no problem when we traveled from JFK to MCO a few weeks ago.
In my bag I had a few pouches and a container of apple sauce.

I honestly never thought they would be a problem so I didn't take them out going through security. Noone stopped me or made me take them out of my bag.

I took the Sprouts brand pouches before, I think they are smaller (2 oz). I would be worried they'd confiscate it and I'd be left high and dry.

I have never had a problem. I put them in a separate quart bag and present them to security. Because said toddler is always with me, they haven't questioned me yet.

We flew form BDL to PHX. We had a bunch of the Plum Organic pouches since it was a long flight. TSA was really nice, they felt bad asking me to open each one. It wasnt an issue since the tops go right back and we knew they would be used quickly.
Just be prepared to open them, and I dont think you will have any issues. We are going to be bringing some with us from ALB to MCO next month as well.

In the case of a young child, who at 19 months is essentially a baby, there is an exception for the 3 oz rules. It is considered baby food and is allowed through. You just have to present it to security, and depending on the airport they may do additional testing. They are NOT allowed to ask you to taste. That's a violation of TSA rules and if someone does, they should be reported ASAP. Here are the guidelines from TSA's website for traveling with children. Scroll down to read the section about food, milk, formula, etc.

I traveled back from Orlando with those pouches with my daughter over the summer with no problems. :)

I've never had a problem flying with them. DS *loves* the applesauce pouches, and it's so much easier than traveling (and eating) applesauce with a spoon. Good luck! I 'm sure it will be fine.

You definitely can bring them. They are a staple for our flights! (we have flown 26 times so far with our 23 month-old). Separate all the baby food/drink in its own bag (i use a gallon bag) and be prepared for it to be tested. I have never been asked to open all of the pouches, but many times I was asked to open one and it was tested. Various airports handled it differently (and it was different each time at our own airports here as well).

I've flown with them...they pulled me aside in security and had me open them and they tested them with their little stick things to check for anything dangerous...not a big deal.

I had no trouble bringing a fruit pouch for our flight last year. I only had one because the flight was only about 2 hours. They tested it along with DD's sippy cup. It wasn't a problem.
