It might get better. The 787's they have on order depending on the version, have a maximum flying range of 8,500 or 8,200 or 3,050 NM (737-800 max range is 3,060 NM) However these are not scheduled to be delivered until 2010. Until then.......

I think SFB is about 4,000NM?

Also see the note that the Air India lease could be extended to 12 months?

Shame to hear this as I was hoping to hear good things about your travel from Glasgow

I was really looking forward to it as well Reid. Much better than having to do the usual early morning flight to Gatwick and then onto Orlando.

What about the new Virgin Glasgow to Orlando route? I know that its not every day, but could that be an option for you?

In 2007, the flights leave Glasgow on peak Saturdays in June, July and October. For 2008, this has been increased to a twice-weekly service on the busiest weeks, as well as a brand-new service to cover the Scottish "Easter" holidays.

Flights will depart Glasgow on the following dates in 2008.

Cath I tried to get a quote for July 2008 flydrive but can't get in . can get a package so maybe to early for flydrives.

Whilst forums like V-Flyer and PPRuNE are very good, I would however get confirmation from Globespan as to what they are going to do over the summer.
Get it in writing if they say they are not using 737's for example.

They surely have to tell you what service they are going to supply?

Thanks, will do that. Don't think we will be able to change anyway because we are going on a Tuesday and most flights leave from Glasgow on a Saturday. Although if they are using 737's I would rather travel down elswhere to get a flight!!!

whilst I agree with Obis comment to try and get it in writing I doubt you'll be able to, no airline will guarantee the equipment they'll use in case something happens beyond their control, even BA and VS have been forced to use entirely different aircraft, albeit they have larger fleets at their disposal so the passengers rarely know theres anything wrong.

under IATA terms and conditions an airline only has to get you from A to B, they are not obligated to get you there within a certain time, on a certain date or by a certain way. As I have found to my customers costs when they didn't get what they thought they were paying for.b

Hi my husband rang today and they said it was a temporary problem pre xmas that they sorted by feb. whilst no airline can or will guarantee which plane you travel on they did try to reassure us. We travel with them in August and they said it was definately direct and scheduled to be a 767 (big ) not the little one.

We really dont know what to do, when we booked it was worth travelling to Glasgow (from Leeds) for the difference in price between Virgin and GS.Now the £ is only £200 odd difference but I suppose we would lose our deposit so if we did rebook with Virgin it would cost us £500.

What would you do..... risk it and hang in there hoping for the direct plane we booked or walk away and lose the deposits plus find the extra for Virgin?

any advice would be helpful. Ps we asked them to write all that we discussed in an email so at least we'd have something in writing. Ill let you know if we recieve it as when this thread started we emailed them and got no response

I'd stick with Globespan and hope for the best. £200 is nearly $400 in my money and I'd pay the lower fare even if I knew it was going to be a 737 before I purchased the ticket. It's all about the seat pitch. As long as the distance to the seat in front of me is sufficient, it doesn't matter what the rest of the plane looks like or how many other seats there are. I'd rather have the extra money to spend at my holiday destination....IMO.
