Flyglobespan using 737??????

Just phoned Flyglobespan asking them to clarify the situation - we're booked for July in Premium Economy and we have been told that they will definitely be using a 767 for the summer - not a 737. She also told me that 'we shouldn't believe everything we read on some websites...'.
She said she had an internal e-mail yesterday confirming the use of 767's to Florida.

Sticking with them anyway

Should include their own website in that statement judging by the way they have been acting.

Alot of these websites that are not to be believed are used by Pilots, other crew and ATC, people who do have considerably more inside knowledge than a telephone clerk for Fly Globespan. The company are probably doing everything they can to sort this and it appears they seem to have some sort of decent resolution. BUT they did have the 737's down for that route and if they didnt manage to lease alternative and better suited aircraft or use seating with other companies they would have attempted to use them. I know who i believe.

I think everyone up North is hoping they can provide this service regularly, but 1 767 is a pretty risky move if it gets a fault, if GS actually gave better customer service by responding to emails or even sticking to same story I think people would be more reassured, hope it does deliver this summer

if they have nothing to hide why dont they respond to emails and also why have they changed the wording re the seat pitch in business if they are using their own specialist planes. Fishy if you ask me. We are hoping they cancel our flight so we stand a chance of getting our money back.

GS will be using a 757 and 767 to SFB this summer. The 757 is leased from Iceland Air and its been repainted in GS colours and is due to start in April if not before. Business seating pitch is reduced by 25% from 50" to 38" as no internal refit is being done. Data is available on the layout etc on the Iceland Air site. Look under their Saga Class entries.

767's are being reffitted but the one used on the SFB route may have the same 38" pitch so they can squeeze in the extra passengers they cant get on the 757.

GS are planning a single hop 757 excursion to FL from the UK... Bit worrying.

Distance to SFB from GLA : 4200 miles
Range of a loaded 757-200 : 3900ish

Their excuse for it being able to make it is "we will be limiting the cargo on these flights to extend the range"...... "

At least a 767 and a 757 are better than a 737 so some good news there.

There is no need to worry on that account. They should be well maintained, why would they buy rubbish? there are plenty of hibernated well maintaned aircraft knocking about.

Not sure how they make these pay without cargo, has anyone actually watched what they load on the long haul craft that fly around the world? This is the reason why a ticket costs £300-£400 rather than £500 - £600.

the 767 used on the SFB route last year was an old Air New Zealand aircraft which was refitted and rebranded ......

Very disappointing that the lessons from the late summer and winter schedules have taught these guys nothing !!!!!!

Hi Boo Boo. No their two 767's are leased to Air India.
G-CDPT 767 was Ex Air New Zealands ZK-NCN, first registered in 2000.
the other, G-CEFG was also ex Air New Zealand's ZK-NCH, first registered in 1994. Pictures of both of these aircraft in their original livery and also in the new Air India livery (yes, already repainted!) are available on www.airliners.net

The two possible aircraft coming in to replace their own aircraft are two ex KLM 767's, now owned by an Italian leasing company Neos
EI-DMJ, ex PH-BZB Built 1995 and
EI-DOF, ex PH-BZD Built 1996

When I finally spoke to a girl this morning I was told that they had only sent out letters/emails so far to the Business clients, they went out Thurs or Fri and only to those who would be affected by a change of plane - as our dates were not expected to be affected then we wouldnt get a letter. The Premium Economy letters/emails would be going out next.

If you are booked business you get the option of a full refund or keeping the seats, there is to be no partial refund to compensate for the loss of 12" of leg room.

We are still debating whether to cut our losses and book with Continental or give it a bit longer, personally I am sick of it all and have written to the media about it.

Good for you writing to the media is a great idea we are hoping they cancel our days flights so we get a refund. It stinks that they knowingly advertised planes and services that they knew they didnt have. have you checked opodo prices if they are good for you from manchester?

I'd urge anyone who has any concerns regarding their flight to contact Globespan directly and ask specific questions about their own flight, rather than react to the scaremongering going on here.

So what exactly is the "Half truths & Conspiracy theories"?
Scaremongering? has Globspan Not used 737 800's on its Sanford run then?
Have we all not said phone Globespan?
Have you not read the responses from people who have done just that?
Have you bothered to read the other reports on forums dedicated to aviation, a topic thoie people know a lot about?

I think you will find that its precisly the fact that people have contacted FlyGlobespan and have been messed about instead of being given the correct information good or bad, that has caused the problem.
