Just read a horrendous topic on another forum that some of the Globespan flights to SFB are using their 737-800 aircraft, with a refuelling stop at Keflavik and St Johns

it seems they only have one 767-300 in the fleet at the moment as the other has been loaned out to Air India so they are using for the winter schedules of GLA-SFB and MAN-YYZ/CPT (Canada) when the only 767 goes tech or problems arise.

What a horrible thought! that length of journey on a 737!

They are supposed to get back for the summer the loaned out 767 and are looking at some leases on some 757's

Oh nasty!!!

I was going to say when I read the title... "surely a 737 hasn't got ANYTHING near that range", now I see the TWO refuelling stops... :scared1:

Hope that nobody on here has those flights booked whilst a 737 is being used...

Sorry Boo Boo, my writing.
The 737 only makes one stop on its way to SFB and that is at St john's the canadian flights use the other refuelling spot.

This photo was taken at Washington, so it is not just Florida where they use 737s.

Still, not pleasant....

I wonder if these flights are configured "all economy". I wonder how the inflight catering and entertainment are effected too. No matter what, 737s drive me mad after a couple of hours... imagine how you would feel after 8 or more hours in one :(

VERY Cramped!

OB1, where did you read this?

I am a bit concerned as we are due to fly with Globespan in September, if they are not going to fly the 767's direct I am going to loose the deposit and book Virgin!

They only seem to be using them during this winter schedule and should have the other 767 back for the summer schedule

Although they may see September as part of their Winter (or "non peak") schedule - so anything could happen... Fingers crossed they sort their fleet out by then, but I guess this is a reminder that charters have small fleets and substitutions of "less desirable" aircraft and routings are not uncommon...

That's what we did:thumbsup2 We had originally booked from Glasgow to Sanford. We were then advised that we would be stopping in Ireland for 2 hours.

We've just been on the phone to them, they say that the flights are direct, but it did take a long time to confirm this.
Who we spoke to did not fill us with confidence lets say!
I have my car parking booked at Glasgow and car hire booked to pick up at SFB. I am going to have so much to change...grrrrr!
Florence - did you get a refund on your deposit?

No ~ lost the £150. When we re-booked it was actually cheaper than FGS, although we had booked business class with them.

Ah Ok thanks..fingers crossed they get their act together and we don't have to cancel then.

Would not fancy Flying to Florida on a 737  I must say that since the service from Belfast to Sanford has started I have only ever seen 767's

Shame to hear this as I was hoping to hear good things about your travel from Glasgow :sad1:

Direct does not mean non-stop so yes it may be direct but will stop for refuelling, did they confirm if non stop as well? If they didn't then I would ask again.

Claire ;)

According to the website its direct non-stop, the only one with a stop off is on a Tuesday which stops off in Ireland.
I will get back on the phone to them on Monday.

If they are using the 767 then it will be non stop. the problem will arise if the 767 goes tech or an alternative aircraft has ti be used, so technically they would be correct in saying to you its non stop, but that could change on the day

I believe the plane did go tech last year and the passengers were delayed 24hours...I am tempted just to loose the deposit and book with VA.....desicions, desicions.
