Even though I know we're not going back til 2009, I miss Florida so much that i've already started the tentative stages of planning our next trip. I was looking around online at variable dates in 2008 just to get an idea of prices, and was shocked to find that FGS were wanting over £2200 for 2 weeks for me and junior

The price was based on the only accomodation they had in LBV, a basic motel.

For comparison, on the Virgin and TCD websites for the same dates, the prices were around £2000 for comparable accomodation, and the same amount (£2200) would have got us onsite at Disney flying with Virgin.

For what claims to be a low-cost airline, and most comments i've read about them backs this up in terms of service, punctuality, etc, I don't see how they can expect to compete when charging these kind of prices

Unless we manage to stumble across something similiar to the amazing deal we got from Virgin last year, I think we will just book flights and accomodation separately, as the flights are quite cheap using air miles.

Anyone any ideas about the best places to book hotels online? I was thinking about doing a few days onsite at both Universal (to make use of the FOTL passes) and Disney, and the rest of the time offsite. What would be the best strategy for doing this?

:thumbsup2

Try Expedia Paul. Also Tripadvisor are good so you can check the reviews of the hotels before you book.

Maybe you can also book through Virgin ?

If you also fancied a few days at St. Pete's let me know. I have a friend who owns a condo there. He may have some vacancies.

Everywhere seems a lot more expensive this year but we got our flights for around £1600 (I think).

You can be lucky with the prices on FGS (if you can be lucky at all with this airline - that is still to be seen :lmao: ) Sign up for the newsletter on their website and you will get email notification of when their Summer 2009 flights are on sale.

We got the email through, and thought we would give them a try :scared1: this summer - booked it 26/6/07 which was a few days after they were released, for 25/7/08 from Belfast. If I had booked it the very day they were released I would have saved about £250 - if I had booked it about 2 weeks after I did I would have paid another £1200!!!!! So, what is the price you are saying.........£1589.92 for 2 adults and 2 kids flight only - a great deal direct from Belfast - ok I know the airline problems but for this price it is worth a try :thumbsup2

We only ever book flight only or flydrive so cannot comment on what the full package prices were but if FGS is an option book it the day the flights are released.

To be fair, I flew with them to Barcelona in February last year. The price was brilliant (about £80 return from Glasgow iirc). Service and plane were both basic, but thats exactly what I expected.

With the problems that's been reported on their Florida flights though, and the basic nature and uncertainty over the reliability of their aircraft I think I would prefer to pay the extra £100 each to fly with Virgin for peace of mind.

More so if you were considering an all in package at the prices quoted :) Btw it wasn't TCD I had got the price from similiar to Virgin, must have been First Choice. Checked TCD earlier and they are looking the best bet if im going to go for a package :thumbsup2

I would imagine Flyglobespan have had to put up their prices to compensate for all the customers they have lost (myself included). They are good if things are going well but as soon as there is a problem they don't want to know. Four letters later since August 2007 we are still waiting on a reply!

unsure when you are going Paul but we got a really good deal out of Glasgow with MY Travel (not Thomas Cook) we book 14 months in advance and got a price £1500 cheaper than Virgin and that is flying Premair. we got 3 weeks cheaper than we paid the year before for 2 weeks . they were also doing free child placesfor up to age 18, keep your eye open for the 2009 flight releases
