Flyers: Where on the Plane Do You Like to Sit?

My secret? Always fly Southwest, sit on the right side over the wing, look out the window, have a xanax, and order a tomato juice. Works every time - I've never crashed! :thumbsup2

(Don't know how the tomato juice thing started. I only drink it when I fly!)

For me it's more where I don't like to sit. I tend to prefer a window in most cases.

I don't like the seats directly behind the exit row; exit row sitters tend to be more likely to be constant recliners because they like their space. I don't like to sit over the wings unless I'm travelling with a small child; the constant drone of the engines is irritating to me, but it tends to make kids sleep. The very back can be an issue on smaller jets -- for some reason the exhaust smell near the tail is stronger on those regional planes.

I also try to sit on whatever side of the aircraft is NOT facing the sun (on a N-S route); I don't like the sun just blinding me when above the clouds.

make sure im in the middle or front....not sure why this makes me feel safer, but it does. and i keep an eye on the flight attendants....if they are going about their business, then i know all is well!

I am the exact same way. I used to be deathly afraid of flying, but I have found that if I watch the FAs and if they are smiling and still serving beverages, then I know that I am still o.k. I also look at other passengers....if they have panic in their eyes, that is when I will start to panic, luckily that has not happened :goodvibes

How come? Those seats usually have reduced recline!

We are a family of five and just tend to head to the back of the plane. Our flights as a family have only been to Orlando, so no need to recline for 1 hour 15 minute flight. Or maybe because we are Baptist and just tend to gravitate toward the last row? :lmao:

We are also last row people. We are a family of 6 and we usually set on the last 2 rows on the right side. We like it back there. It feels less crowded and hurried back there. In the front when my kids were small I always felt like someone was impatient or in a hurry with them. So we moved to the back. Plenty of space for our things, no one rushing for the seats, close to the bathroom. We are also able to ease drop on the flight attendents (:lmao:) jk
We like it so all you people who like the front please stay up there. We wont take your seats if you promise not to take ours.:goodvibes

I like the front of the plane, I prefer boarding last and getting off first, I hate having to try and make my way to the middle or back of the plane while people are trying to stuff their buldgeing carry on bags into the overhead bins, or trying to pull them out of the bins once the flight is over. If I can not get a seat in front I take middle , last resort is the back, to me it is just too clousterphobic and turbulence seems worse in the back to me. Right or left side if of little difference to me as long as I have a window seat. I usually try to buy my plane tickets early so I can get the seat I want.

The front third of the plane. I absolutely hate standing there, behind the wing, waiting for people to 'start' getting their stuff together after the plane arrives at the gate. With that being said....window seat, a few rows in front of the wing.

Yep, that's pretty much why. By the time we get our stuff together, everyone is off the plane so no waiting.
