We fly tomorrow on American Airlines via Miam1. Just suddenly thought, I have no idea about Miami airport so wondering if anyone has done the same flight. I assume we have to go through immigration pick up luggage and check back in again. Hoping, unlike Boston that we don't have to change terminal.

Tried online check in but says my husbands passport data doesn't match! Bit worrying, its definitely correct. Sent twitter to American who replied straight away to say that because its a codeshare, (booked with US) it can cause issues with online check in and that will be sorted at airport. Part of me wishes I hadn't tried now as I will be worrying! So fingers crossed no issues.

Not on your flight but be aware that AA does depart from two terminals - but MIA is easy to navigate. You may be lucky and fly both in and out of the same terminal.

Yes, you clear immigration, then get your bags, then clear customs, then recheck your bag. You don't need to check in again, they will give you both boarding passes here in the UK. Then you head to your gate for the second flight, you will have to clear security again to do this.

Sounds like a lot of work but it's not. Miami is easy enough to navigate, but we find it a very boring airport. They have TV screens up to show the news which is about as entertaining as it gets...

The nice part is that you have like a 30 minute flight to MCO and you are done when you arrive. We are usually on the bus to the hotel within 20 minutes of touching the ground (will be longer if you have to wait for bags, but still quick!).

We flew AA/BA via Miami last August with a 2hr 15 change.

We were right at the back of the plane as we had booked the 4 seats behind 5 (extra legroom and TV/Trays in arm).

By the time we had taxied we had less than two hours, but from getting off the plane it took 27 minutes to do immigration, customs, collect bags and drop them off again. I found it a very easy airport to navigate and we had no issues at all.
