Okay, so it is on her Wish List, and it seems kinda neat, but it seems kinda pricey ($99) for what it is and what it does, at least operationally. I think the thing that I get caught up in is the fact that it seems you need to use special paper (which isn't reusable, of course).

Anyone have any strong feelings about this item?

It really looks neat. We don't have one, so no personal experience. I too think its pricey. DD10 didn't ask for it and she is not getting it because I had decided before I saw it to redo her room. That is ending up costing more than the pen for bedding, curtains, etc.

I'd never heard of this before, so I googled it. Wow! That is so cool! I want one too! :rotfl2:

Don't have experience with this particular LeapFrog product but I can tell you that I have NEVER been disappointed in anything made by the company and we own just about everything they make that's aimed at the 6 and under crowd. Their customer support is awesome and they genuinely seem to care about the products and their customers. They have replaced many broken or misplaced parts, never any questions asked and the durability of their products is good.

This does seem to be a hot item this year, glad to see them expanding into older and older markets!

It looks like a great gift. I saw a demo on it on QVC last week. For 99.00 it came with the pen, a case and some paper. They also sold the refill paper for it. But, it was sold out fast. Check them out before you buy it in the store, if they got a new shipment in, its worth buying from them.

DS got one for his 11th BD yesterday and it's a HUGE hit! It really does a lot of neat things and he's having a ball with it. Took it with us out to dinner last nite and the neighbor girls played with it - the 12 yo loved it and really got into it, the 9 yo liked it but not as much (more like "it's cool" and that's it). I'd say this is good for the 11/12 age group and up - kids who will read directions and take time to figure things out. Got it at TRU w/ a 20% off coupon so that helped. $100 is a tough price point I think-if you spend that much you want it to be more than something they play with for a week and then forget about it! Time will tell if that's the case, but I"m betting it's as good or better than other things of a similar price in that regard.... HTH!
