Fly or drive??

I would fly. Without question.

I made that drive 10 years ago when I was in my early 20s in a van with 5 other early 20s friends. I will never drive there again. Regardless of cost. Especially with the kids. No way, no how.

You certainly are not telling me anything I do not already know, especially since I'm a pharmacist (and certainly exposed to more germs than disney, especially the last 2 weeks). But I do know their chances of picking up something is a lot higher in a plane than in our car. The 7.5 year old is home sick now so hopefully that means he is getting it out of the way and he likely passed it on to the 4.5 year old already. They often do that.

I have driven from CT to Disney World the last 10 years in a row....We get up early and drive till 8 or 9pm and stop for the night ....leave fairly early the next morning and we are there that afternoon. To me the drive is part of the vacation.

We are having the same dilemma. There are 5 of us though so by flying we would save time yes but have little flexibility. We would have to stay on property in a family suite or a deluxe. For the price of 2 nights in a family suite, we can have our own condo with plenty of room for a week. I'm not looking forward to a 21 hour drive with two six year olds and a seven year old but I think in the end it is the best choice for us. Wish me luck!pixiedust:

I'd be worried about something happening to the car. What if it breaks down along the way, you have to find someplace to fix it. A coworker had an accident while she was on vacation in Sarasota, an uninsured pizza delivery driver hit her. The vehicle was not drivable, she ended up having to spend an extra week in Sarasota at her own expense while the vehicle was being repaired. She tried to get money back from the driver but never did. He was working under the table so the pizza shop denied he was their worker.

Just get AAA. We did get in an accident once but were able to drive away and get the repairs done at home...We like to bring a lot of stuff along with us such as a fan or 2, lots of pillows, food, cooler, etc...couldn't do that on a plane.

We really considered driving this trip then I found a really great price on a flight out so we were going to rent a car use it the week and return to NH the rental price was 1/2 the price of renting in Orlando and returning to Orlando you could check that option out. we ended up getting a great price on the flight home too so we are flying both ways now but I figured I would throw that option out.
