Fly on Friday the 13th?? Yep, we`ll turn superstition into 23 nights of fun!! A Sept/Oct 2024 TR

No, you didn’t find it yet.
This is the most chain-like of the places you can eat, and yet we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the pours at the Hard Rock at CityWalk 🥰 🍹

We haven’t tried Pat O’Brien’s yet, so I look forward to your review. I do love dueling pianos! I hope you have a fun request in mind — maybe “Don’t Stop Me Now?!”

Darn it, I think that`s the only place we`ve missed out!!!

I think because I had such a bad meal at the HRC (Tom loved his) I wasn`t keen to return, but maybe just for drinks might be a good idea, nothing beats a good pour!!!

I love that song!!! Then again, very few of Queen`s songs I don`t like! We are looking forward to giving it a try, neither of us have ever been to a Duelling Piano place so it does sound like a lot of fun :flower1:

There`s really not much left to do with just two weeks to go now till we fly, but as always there are things that can be tweaked shall we say!!!

A few weeks ago, we booked the rental car, and we thought, why not just get a regular car this time, there are a couple of cars Tom really likes and wouldn`t mind driving instead of our usual SUV, so just for a change we booked a Dodge Charger or similar.

I knew what would happen.

Tom asked me a couple of time was I happy with us booking a car, yes was always my reply and after about the 88th time I said, do you want to change to an SUV? He said he wasn`t bothered but like most wives I can read my husband like a book, so I suggested he should maybe look at an SUV knowing the prices were fairly high and he probably wouldn`t bother making the change as we had got this car for a fairly decent price.

Three nights on the bounce, I heard car quote after car quote, what did I think of this car, what did I think of that car....by this point I really didn`t care as long as I have a car to take me from A-B, I`m happy.

Then on Tuesday night he said, I think I`ll cancel the booking we have and change it for this SUV!!

I`m shocked was my reply :rotfl:

So, yes, we now have a much too large SUV booked that we don`t really need for more money thank you very much, but my mister is a happy bunny so all good there.

Just to be annoying, I had written a little note and popped it in a sealed envelope, dated two weeks ago stating we would have an SUV booked before we left!! I gave him it to open and he did laugh and said yep, he really wanted one!!! And he tells me I don`t know how to go cheap...lol....

Now we are not changing again!!

Insurance is sorted too, that was a lot easier than anticipated and they had a very nice 20% off due to them celebrating being in business for 20 years which is always nice.

Now, officially we have nothing to do till 72 hrs before the flight where we can upload our Fly Ready stuff to VA, but some say you can leave that till the airport and 24 hrs before we can do online check in for the flight which we always do once we arrive at the Radisson and have lunch, so for now all we can do is wait!

We are having a look at a couple more restaurants we might visit and one is a lot closer than I thought, so that`s on my list, but as is usual for us, too many restaurants and not enough nights. I`m glad we`re not doing HHN anymore as it has freed up more nights!! I just need to get the opinion from a couple of locals before deciding, always best to ask folks in the know.

But, counting the hours now till our next trip!!!

More to come :)

 Its getting close now!!!!! We are at 5 more :cheer2:

It is for sure and yes, you`re right behind us!!!

Hope you`re all sorted now, I think keeping busy is the secret of time going quicker!!! Doesn`t stop me wishing the time away though and the complete opposite when we`re there!

OMG I loved your photos of Scotland! It is so unbelievably gorgeous and other worldly. We had the best time visiting there.

I agree with your decision to ditch the Monorail Pub Crawl at Disney. I don't 'get' the obsession people have with Trader Sams. I think it is overpriced and completely overhyped. However, we do love the bar at The Grand Floridian.

I think a pub crawl at Disney Springs would be fantastic! Jock Lindsays Hangar Bar, Raglan Road, Wine Bar, Morimoto Asia, Jaleo, House of Blues, Home Cookin', Lucky Strike, Margarita bar, Summer House, Edison, Wine Bar George etc. I love Disney Springs and think they have the best food in Orlando.

I love a Margaritaville and have been to them everywhere! They are always fun!

Just a caveat about Pat O'Brians, they no longer make their famous Hurricanes to order but use a mix and they are no longer worth buying. We were at the original in New Orleans for the last weekend in May and they were horrible. My son, husband, and I all threw ours in the trash. I was so disappointed. At least ask for a sample before you order and you can decide for yourselves.

Ahh the avocado stove! One of my first apartments had a teal green/turquoise stove. I wish I still had that stove!

We will be at City Walk on October 7th after Howl-O-Scream on the 6th so I will be following your crawl!

Thanks for the always fabulous posts!

Oh thank you for the heads up on the Hurricane now, we won`t bother. I know most places do a lot of premix batches, you should see where Confisco get the wine for their Sangria!!!! But completely pre made is not for us, one of the worst things about HHN was their drinks, all sugar, no kick!!! That`s a shame you had throw the drinks away, I hate to hear alcohol is being ruined lol.....

An avocado stove!!!! Wow, never seen one of those before lol....thank goodness only the food is popular today!!!

Disney Springs do have some amazing places for both food and drink, I think if we do get over there we`d like to try Jock Lindsays Hangar Bar or maybe the bar at Boathouse if there are seats, it`s always so busy!

We`ve only been to the M`ville in Citywalk and apart from a blip several years ago, we have always really enjoyed the food there, nothing exceptional, but solid standard and yes, fun place with very good barmen!!

We`re still on the fence about buying tickets for Howl o Scream, I know we`d enjoy it, but, we`ll see if we feel like it when we`re there. We absolutely loved HoS when we went a couple of years ago with keishashadow and her husband, it beat HHN hands down in every way!! We got some very good scares too which was so much fun!

I`m so glad you liked the Scotland pics, it is a stunning country with more to it than Tartan, whisky and bagpipes and anyone who visits gets to see the real Scotland. I helped one of my American cousins friends choose some places to go this past summer and they loved it all. Not a lot of folks hear about a thing called The Falkirk Wheel, amazing piece of engineering and fun too, they went back for another visit which was nice to hear.

So, yes I`m thrilled you enjoyed your visit to Scotland so much and happy you`re along again for this one too, it`s always nice to know you enjoy it 🥰

I love this! TBF I’m similar, when I start saying “I’m just going to investigate…” my husband can be pretty sure that it’s going to end up happening!

You`re my twin!!!

Yep, Tom knows what will happen when I say something similar to him, I can almost feel the resigned eyeroll he gives, always with a smile though!!

Our husbands know us so well I think ::yes::

neither of us have ever been to a Duelling Piano place so it does sound like a lot of fun
I think you will enjoy it, their Hurricane is potent and tasty:). I need to be in the mood for dueling pianos, a lot depends on the crowd, hope it is a fun night for you. Wonder if they still have the fountain in the courtyard, take a pic, pretty cool effect.

So, yes, we now have a much too large SUV booked
Well, the way people drive in MCO & FL in general, the more metal you have surrounding you the better lol

Yes, it is such a nice (mostly) adult themed event. Reminds me of HHN in a sense before it got real crowded & slick; not to mention before they made it more family/social media focused.

Trip is so close, woohoo!

I hope it`s a good evening, but I have had a couple of hotel TM`s tell me not to bother anymore as it`s not as good as it once was.....so, I`m torn. If I tell Tom he`ll enjoy something he does have quite high expectations it`ll be good....no pressure then lol.....

Yes, HoS was exactly like that, the way HHN used to be. I don`t want it to be a family friendly affair and yes, i`m probably guilty as charged of taking a lot of pictures at HHN over the years, but don`t like the way it did turn into a photo op. Maybe I`m being a hypocrite there, but I wish it was the way it used to be late 2000`s and into the early years of the next decade. And yes, too crowded!!!

I do like an SUV to be fair and yes agree about the driving there, it is something to be experienced.

Yup, getting closer!!!!

Hi, Carole and Tom!

I must have fallen off the planet ( or at least off the DisBoards!) because I missed your May trip report altogether! I’m happy to be back reading along and glad to see you both doing well. Life has been chugging along, but it’s so nice to be reading another trip report from you!❤️

:welcome: back Andrea!!!!

I wondered where you were, you were missed!!

And yes, it is good to have you along for this one, look forward to seeing you post again on our adventures.

Hope everything is well with you and yours and welcome back :wave2:

Woohoo! I can’t believe how close it’s getting! 🎉🎉

Have you decided on your first ride, or will you follow your whim in the moment?! 🥰

It is so close we can almost feel that heat!!! Not quite though lol....

Well, it all depends on what we do, our first full day is Saturday and usually we avoid the parks, but Caroline (DisneyAndi) is there and it`s her last day, so if we don`t feel zonked out we do plan to try and even pop in for a quick hello before she leaves, so if we`re there we might ride something.

Alternatively if that doesn`t happen, out first ride will be in IOA as that is usually our first park day, so Hulk or Velocicoaster, probably Velocicoaster as I`m not as keen on The Hulk anymore. Although I have been hearing there have been a few rollbacks on Velocicoaster, not sure I`m as keen to experience that

I assume we will have to wait and see.
my bet is on the welcoming committee will be their first set up.
The staff love Carole and Tom!

I`m still here 😁

Awww......we adore them too, can`t wait to see the ones that are still there, some we have known for 15 years now.
