Fly into Sanford, out of MCO?

Due to flight schedules, we are looking at the possibility of flying into Sanford (which I know nothing about) and then having another airline for our return which would depart out of MCO.

Anyone concerned about this plan on the surface? I don't know anything about Sanford, but I guess an airport is an airport.

My main concern is the rental car. Anyone know which agencies might have a counter at both MCO and Sanford?

I am sure the majors operate at both but you need to find out if returning to a different location will cost you.

We used Sanford in 01, it's much smaller then MCO but very nice. I had a reservation with Budget, which is off site ( about 1.5 miles) they have a phone near baggage call them and they send a van to pick you up. We always rent a car when we travel and found the rates to be less at Sanford then at MCO. It will not be a problem to return the car to MCO. All the major rental companies, are located near by.

You didn't say when your travel is. But, this may help I got a great rate from Budget for our trip in May. with the Ent. rate discount (mid-size $135.00 for the week, all fees incl.).

Oh, travel time from Sanford is about 35 min.
