I reside in LA and I'm finding amazing flight prices on round trip from LA to FLL. (not so great from LA to MCO) According to mapquest its about a 2 hour drive from Ft Lauderdale to VB.

Has anyone ever done this.....fly into FLL, then drive to VB for a stay? How about FLL to VB for a handful of days, then on to WDW for a handful of days, then drive back down to FLL to fly out?

Would that be too much driving?

That's definitely do-able. It's only slightly longer than driving from MCO to Vero. The drive will be a bit long from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale, but as long as you're aware of that and willing to make the trip, why not?

we are flying into west palm beach approx 45 min to 1 hr. drive to VB

easy airport to get in and out. we will be at VB later this month. can't wait.

bugs or no bugs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2: :yay:

You've probably already done this, but before I drove that far - MCO to FLL, just to fly out, I would compare my gas costs and car rental costs to see if it really would be that much of a savings. That is an awfully long drive (4-5 hours) and chance to miss a flight home, should something go wrong on the return drive from Orlando. If you were just doing VB, I wouldn't really think too much about it. I would also check WPB like the other poster suggested. It's a smaller regional airport, but easy to use. I had an employee that flew into that area all the time.

Food for thought.

We flew into WPB for our Easter trip. Volunteered to get the bump on NWA($300 vouchers), would have gotten on a FLL flight 1.5 hrs later. Made the WPB flight and DH got a 1st class seat, while I sat in the last row way in the back with the kids. . Really wanted those vouchers though.

We're flying into MCO in 2009.

Vero's more like 3 hours from Fort Lauderdale's airport....maybe 3.5. Certainly not 5 hours...you'd be all they way to Jacksonville by then!

I don't think it's too much driving at all. It's less driving than we do for our regular WDW trips. WDW to FLL would be about 3-3 1/2 hours, depending on the time of day you travel, and it's 100% turnpike and Interstate.

FLL is very easy in-out. It's right at the intersection of I-595 and I-95, a few miles south of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Smallish, but very modern airport. Many people in the northern areas of Miami drive to FLL rather than MIA because of the ease of the airport, as well as the fact that they sometimes get better fares there.

Certainly all of this is doable. If you can get a good rate into PBI, that would be my preference but FLL is not impossible.

FLL to Disney's Vero Resort is roughly 138 miles - 2 hrs 15 min

Disney's Vero to BCV is roughly 2 hours and a little under 100 miles

Disney BCV back to FLL via FL Turnpike, connecting to I-95 around Ft. Pierce would be 214 miles and roughly 3 hrs 15 min

PBI to Vero is about 90 minutes and 90 miles
BCV to PBI via FL Turnpike is roughly 2 hrs 40 minutes and 165 miles

You will need to consider whether you might be traveling during rush hours -- WPB and FLL are very busy metropolitan areas and you'll need to allow for traffic jams -- coming from LA I'm guessing you're familiar with those.:cool2:

I've driven from Ft. Lauderdale to WDW.
Not bad at all.
I definitely would use the Turnpike to drive back to the airport.
Much faster and easier to drive than 95.
