fly down case of water in a suitcase?

I always laugh when I see this question asked here (and it has been asked many times). Is it honestly worth saving a few bucks to bring water with you? What a hassle!

Yes you can check it, but you will have to box it up carefully.

hmmm - a case for $5 or 24 bottles at WDW for over $54 - hmmm
anyways its an extra suitcase for souveniers!

When we got for short stays, I split the bottles amoung the carryons. If its a case worth of water for a longer stay, I buy it between the airport and resort.

We ship our water in a box with snacks in their own packages. Take a very small amount of water OUT of the bottles. We had two freeze up and explode, and you guessed it....When our box came out, it had been torn open from the water making it weak.

I have put 40 oz. bottles of water in a checked bag and it was fine. I did put it in sealed plastic bags in case it leaked.

We are actually considering giving GardenGrocer.com a try. They can deliver a few breakfast on the go items, including fresh bananas and StarBucks Mocha Frappachino drinks, so that wins out over Staples as far as I am concerned. The money that we would save over buying the same items at WDW is worth the cost and delivery fee. Maggie

If there are 4 in the family and you're allowed 2 checked bags each.......that's a lotta baggage! Why not fill one up with some essentials if you're on the magical express? It's not like you have to cart that stuff around...just the first drop at your departure airport and that's it.

Don't put water in with anything valuable though...like a camera......yes it might leak.......but also, water & stuff is reason for the bag scanners to open your bags and check them........and theft is not unheard of.

I think taking water down to Disney is a little much too, the Hess stations have it and very inexpensive.
But if you insist, please pack it very carefully, in case of leakage.

Last trip we refilled water bottles with hotel water. The water down there tastes decent these days--they somehow got rid of the sulfur.

Personally, I wouldn't go through the hassle of packing a case of water in a suitcase. If it was IMPERATIVE that I have a case of water, I'd either ship a box to myself, or use a service such as Garden Grocer or Wegoshop.

I was going to suggest the Hess station near the Boardwalk too. It may be a little more expensive than you average grocery store but it beats lugging a case of water on a plane.

What is a Hess station?

And why is shoving some stuff into a suitcase and having Magical Express deliver it to your hotel room considered more of a hassle then going online and having groceries shipped to your hotel?

It is a gas station/convenience store located across the street from the Boardwalk.

Please don't just consider your 'hassle' but also be considerate of other travellers. As someone pointed out earlier, water can leak. I really wouldn't appreciate it if your water burst and flooded my suitcase.

This is a very regular question over here and I just don't understand it - water is available everywhere and WDW dropped their prices two years ago. If you can't stand paying for small bottles, buy a few of the larger (and more cost effective) bottles at your resort and refill small bottles.

I do that all the time - I bring a 500 ml bottle for the plane and refill it from a larger bottle which I buy at a grocery store or hotel gift shop, and not just at WDW.

Some of the online companies ask taht you are available at time of delivery, others will just leave it with the hotel. Try netgrocer.com if you don't want the 'hassle' of being there when your delivery arrives.

Don't pack water and take the chance that it could damage other peoples stuff. Spend $10 extra and get gardengrocer to delivery you a case it would still only be about $.70 per bottle if you only order 1 case.

There is also one across from DD-Marketplace.

Good question.
A half-liter of water (the size of the typical portable bottle) weighs 1.102342 pounds.
24 bottles (the number in a typical case) weigh 26.456208 pounds... NOT including the weight of each actual bottle.
Let's figure 27 pounds.
Now, having DME deliver that suitcase is not the hassle - that's easy.
The hassle is: the traveler packing the water; transporting the water to the airport; checking the bag; the bag going from where the traveler checks it in through the airport's luggage handling system to the plane, onto the plane and off the plane at the destination - all unscathed. Ever watch the ramp agents load/unload luggage? It gets thrown around a LOT.

If bouncing around in my bag while I ride Indiana Jones at DL can cause a bottle of water to burst, imagine what it can do in transit and while on the plane.

Sorry, don't mean to say it again, but I really don't understand. It's water - readily available for low cost from a number of sources. Please reconsider.......
