I saw that kick The news said first time since 1940 something??

wow
I always liked Flutie even if I am not a fan of the team he is on now

Even though the Pats played a Florida team yesterday, the STUPID CBS affiliate down here opted not to show the game. I really wish I had seen that!

New England Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie (2) is congratulated by teammates Christian Fauria (88), Ben Watson (84), and Stephan Neal, right, after Flutie drop-kicked an extra point during the fourth quarter of their 28-26 loss to the Miami Dolphins in NFL football at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006. The extra point was the first point scored on a drop kick in the NFL since 1941.

I thought that was great! Flutie is such an icon in Mass, and it was great he was able to end his career with something as special (and unique) as that. Belichek is one class act!

What a great moment! I've been a Flutie fan since his BC days back in the 80's! He's a class act in my book.

My favorite gift under the tree this year was a #2 Flutie jersey!

That was awesome!

Apparently, they had been practicing this for a while, and had hoped to do it in one of these last games. Revival of a lost art. Even Nick Saban (Miami coach) really appreciated it. It started with a conversation between Chris Berman where he told Bill Belichick that Flutie could do the drop kick and mentioning that it had been since 1941 since one had been done.

Don't know how closely anyone follows the Pats here, but I follow VERY closely and a few times this year, including last Friday, Belichick has invited the media into a screening room and shown game film and given football history talks. It's like a little media treat. One of those sessions was all about 1941, which also happened to heavily focus on his late father. It's obvious the year 1941 was chosen deliberately. I see the whole thing as being a nod to history and I think it is incredibly cool.

ESPN shows the highlight, but I bet you can download it offline somewhere. Lemme see what I can find.

My cousin was doug flutie's roommate at BC. We got to meet him once when we were all at my counsin's house. He was such a nice guy, pure gentleman. It's great to see his success throughout the years.
