Flu shots?

DS gets one every year due to his asthma.

I have gotten one for the past 5 years at work.

The only adverse effect I ever had was last year, I had a HUGE welt at my injection site. And it hurt.

I got one the last 2 years and did not have any side effects. Since they started using the synthetic strain instead of the live strain I believe it has been a lot safer. I plan on getting my shot again this year.

I get one every fall because I have asthma. I've never had even the slightest reaction, and I have to say I RARELY get sick--not even a cold.

I have gotten the flu shot for the last 3 years. I have never had any adverse effects other than my arm is usually sore for a couple of days after the shot. Nothing major at all. This year my company is giving them for free, which will be nice.

From what I've seen around here, most places aren't offering shots until mid October. Now is when I miss working at the hospital since I could get one for free. Now I need to pay for it, but I'll probably be getting one.

I get one every year without side effects. My mom swears it makes her sick. The shot is a killed virus so I don't know how she gets sick so who knows. My kids also get flu shots but last year DD, then 4 y/o, couldn't because the ped ran out. I called the ped's office last month to schedule a flu shot for her and they already had them in! I took her right down and got hers. Her ped is adamant about all kids getting them, not just ones with other problems. I figured with us going to WDW, she needs all the recautions she can get. My doctor isn't getting them in until October 16 so I have to wait.

I get one every year. I have for the past 10 years. I've never had a reaction other than a sore arm.

At my son's 3 year appt early in Sept., he got one..and they gave my DD one as well, she was like huh? This isn't MY appointment. LOL
This is their first year getting it so they have to go back for a booster Oct. 8.
They've never gotten one before, but since he offered and they both had thr flu prety badly last year, I decided to do it.
I was surprised they had them available so early.
DH gets one for free at work, and I don't get one.

We do not get them. My MIL worked in a day care center (she just retired a few months ago) so she got one every year. She never had an adverse reactions, but she did usualy get the flu anyway.

My sister gets one due to asthma and my DBF is both asthamic and in heath care so he gets one

I get one every year because I work in an ER. I don't get sick, but I swear that I always feel a little feverish and tired a day or so afterward.

I swear by them. I graduated nursing school in December, started working in January, and had not gotten the flu shot the previous October. That was the first and only time in my life I had ever gotten the full blown flu, and let me tell you, it was miserable. I ended up with an 23 hour observation hospital stay for dehydration.

When I was in college, my coach would make the whole team go get one at the health center. Inevitably, I would get sick afterwards. That said, on a team of about 30 people, I was one of the few who had that happen, so I guess it depends on the person.

Much, much too afraid of needles to ever get one. They're free at work, but ... I'd pass out and be nauseous and lightheaded for at least a day just from the needle. I was sick for 3 days from getting a tetanus shot! I've had the flu once, and was quite sick but it was in 1994! I'll take my chances!

Not us!! My DS17 has asthma and his dr advised him to get one 6 years ago. He did and had the WORST winter ever. I was at the school daily to give him a treatment. Sick all winter basically. He had another shot the next year and again he was terrible all winter. The next year I told him it was up to him and he chose not to get it, and he had a great year. Same since then, no shot and healthy.(I'm knocking on wood right now) Doctor doesn't really agree with us but says "it does seem strange....."
As for the rest of us we don't always take aspirin when we have a headache, just not mediciny people, so we choose not to have a flu shot either.
