Flu shots cancelled again

I got lucky. Our Shoppers got 150 shots in last week and I phoned at just the right time to get our appointments. We are done and I can relax.

I will say that the pharmacist had checked around with some of his colleagues and it sounded like the Ministry had release a pile of them everywhere. It makes me wonder if a major shipment finally came in to Canada and was disseminated.

hate to say it but the shortage is related to people who really dont need it now getting it. If you werent going to be at risk of being hospitalized with the flu then you should have been letting other people get it. The way they handled this is likely going to increase flu problems because the more mobile people are getting it which generally are people at lower risk. Luckily public health measures will seriously decrease the flu without the vaccine

Probably seriously out of date with this info., but when my mother lived in a retirement home, the home had an on-site flu shot clinic for residents. So the older people (many of whom had pre-existing conditions) living in a congregate environment had the clinic brought to them.

I was finally able to get my flu shot last week. And today, another place that had me on their waiting list called. I hope that means we are getting caught up and people who want the shot will be able to get it.

I got mine a few months back in Johnstown PA (home) at the local Giant Eagle. No problem, walked in saw the sign advertising the shots, signed up for the following day and went in and got it. I always get mine early in the season.

Yes they still do that and staff is also immunized at the home.

Keep looking. I had to called every day until I got lucky at our Shoppers. Might be different in BC, but it can't hurt to keep calling. One thing I was told is that it's early in the season, so if you don't get it just yet, it's okay.

Try Superstore out in Langford. They're doing walk-ins only, and at least a couple of weeks ago, seemed to have more supply than other pharmacies. I was in and out within 5 minutes of filling out the form, and cancelled my appointment originally scheduled for today at Save On.

We were able to walk right up to the Costco pharmacy and get ours. Lucky, I guess.

I am glad you were able to finally get your flu shot.

I feel lucky we were lucky to get ours easily. There is a shopper's directly across the street in a little strip mall from our home. We were able to walk in and get ours not problem. This particular shoppers is one of those " home supply " one, and they do not have convenient hours. They do not have food/grocery items in it and they are not open on evenings or Sundays. So people have " adopted " other stores that they run to for all the things they need. So I consider ourselves lucky to have been able to get ours quick and painless
