Flu Shot

Thank you :flower3: Last time it was about 6 days total with about half being still awful side effects and half just being the large fatigue. I'd love for it to be less time so here's hoping! I do feel like I'm feeling less zombie-like 1 day earlier than last time lol.

We ended up sticking with Pfizer.

Oh I bet you are relieved especially with this time of year with her getting it, if I were in her shoes I'd feel a lot better myself, like a load off her shoulders.
So sorry this happened to you, it did the same with fevers to my DD (#2 -1 day) as you but son & DH nothing. Not sure if you have a Dr to talk to but nausea is rough, there are really good medications for nausea I've taken for migraine that make me a bit sleepy that make it vanish the second it dissolves, got the OK to use it on my last Disney cruise too.

Like you, I also have random issues on and off for a few weeks after including the lymph nodes, lower back and this time, oddly my knees. It's not awful, but it's there, so about a week ago I did some digging & looked up where adult marrow comes from and it seems big source of bone marrow which is hard at work is in a lot of the spots that get tender and I figure the lymph nodes are just part of the whole dynamic. Knowing why parts get tender doesn't make it go away, but it is comforting to have an idea of why and that it passes. To me the achiness is a victory, it means my body is winning.

You know I really should have thought of that given how bad it was last time. Assuming another booster is in the cards for the future I will need to do this at least to talk about it. Nausea is not uncommon either with these vaccines so there should be at least knowledge on maybe something to help

oh no that bites :(

Well that's interesting. Hadn't thought about it. There is a certain level of comfort in knowing the why that's for sure. While it doesn't make the pain go away one of my biggest comforts is our cat 😺 he def. was with me overnight Saturday and last night a lot. I just took a nap and apparently I was gone too long so our cat came up to the bed just as I was waking up and brought me a toy of his

Booster and Flu shot in the right arm Saturday arm was a touch sore on Sunday. No side effects other than that.
Just a random question when they do both back to back did they do two separate injection sites just on the same arm? Or did they try to do the injection sites pretty much on top of each other?

Mine were about an inch apart on my left arm. They told me which one was which after, in case there were any side effects at the injection site. They did give the option of getting them in different arms, but I'd rather one sore arm instead of two (and it was quite sore for a couple days).

Just curious, do you have a link for that? I had a weird discomfort in my right shin for a couple of weeks and I wasn’t sure why. I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Can look here to start but better to do. some google yourself, it's and interesting topic https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/bone_marrow.htm
They talk about the Flu one here:
https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aaz8432Since I felt something stirring in certain spots all three times (I do have immune system issues so not like everyone else) I figured it might have something to do with the immune response so I just started poking around the subject out of curiosity. There are lots of different white blood cells so I was reading a bit on which ones are involved in the whole vaccine process and I just kept looking around. I actually walked away sort of understanding why achiness tends to happens when I get sick, something I never really thought about before, I always thought it was just the illness but now suspect it's the body fighting it off. It goes away when the body is done doing it's thing, makes sense to me & I'm ok with that. I learn something new every day :)

For anyone getting a flu shot or booster just wanted to tell my DM’s horrible experience with CVS to get the booster so you avoid them. She does not have a computer or smartphone so when she called her doctor’s office to see if they have the vaccine they do not but the nurse made an appointment for her at a CVS in our area for 12/9. She had the date booked to get a Prolia shot and there has to be 2 weeks spacing so last Thursday was perfect.. She went for her appointment and said they do not have her on file even though my DH had received the initial text confirmation and then another one the day before asking to confirm which he did. When he went to retrieve them saw an hour before there was one canceling with no explanation. They said there is nothing they could do would not give it to her and told her just to make a new appointment online. She asked if there was a phone # to call to see if someone could figure out what happened and get her a new one but they said it is all done online no one to talk to. When I heard this I found an 800 # and she called. She was bounced around no one could help her just said make a new appointment. She did get a person who said a different location had openings to call them to book but when she called they said there are no openings and that the area she had just spoken to are the ones who should book. She called back and asked for a supervisor but was told she just has to book online. I suggested she call her doctor’s office so they know she did not have it and the nurse could not believe what she had been though and said she would look into it and would most likely see if Walgreens or a grocery store had any openings and if not she has to now wait until January for 2 weeks after her other shot.

I would say book the shot yourself, instead of thru someone else. CVS has a very simple on line form to book all shots.

My mom had a horrible time with Walgreens. Unfortunately stuff happens and it stinks when it happens to you.

Around here Walgreens is the problem child not CVS. Most of this isn't going to be a company issue but rather individual or franchised locations and issues with staffing. Many people have had their appointments canceled in my area with 2 specific Walgreens and CVS being praised.

Staffing or vaccine shipment failures are mostly responsible but that doesn't make it any better for those trying to get their shots :flower3:

I’ve had great experiences with CVS all around. Walgreens is a totally different story.

My best experiences have been, hands down, with the mass vaccination sites that are either run by the state or local governments. Online appointments, so easy, always great supply. People do a mix of using these sites or using the CVS/Walgreens and most have reported the best experience with the vaccination sites? Does not every state have these?

Our state had mass vaccination sites but they closed down in July and Aug so now have to get from doctor offices, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, or some local grocery stores that have a pharmacy.

Our state closed also over the summer but once boosters came out, they opened them back up. I drove by there yesterday and the place was hopping!

Once the vaccine was widely available they scaled back on mass vaccinations places around me. For boosters mass vaccination isn't as common in my immediate area. You can find them but the pharmacies generally have the easiest with just the amount of appointments available vs more limited with mass vaccination. I know our county is still doing stuff at their clinic but it was easier to do CVS.

We got our 1st and 2nd dose through a hospital's clinic that they do as a mass event. They are not doing boosters however.

We have them in NJ and get robo call reminders, but we have pharmacies in town, some take appointments, others are walk in. I’d rather drive 5 minutes than 20.

Yeah, I get that. I'm lucky enough that our biggest vaccination site is less than 10 minutes from me. I probably wouldn't drive for it either!
