I'm 50 and got my flu shot last week. My company provides the shot free of charge. I'm very healthy and would like to stay that way.

Nope, never had the flu shot, never had the desire to get the flu shot...so don't see the need for me to decide to start getting it now.

I actually had never *heard* of the flu shot until maybe 2-3 years ago and then it was only recommended for the elderly & those in situations where they were overly exposed.

The one & only time I can ever think of that I had the flu was when I was in grade school. I'm not even sure it was the flu, all I know is that I was incapacitated for a week. I couldn't even lift my head without feeling like I was going to throw up. I felt fine laying down though, which was quite annoying to feel fine but then can't move because you will feel sick...it made for one long boring week.

Until it becomes necessary for me to have the shot, I have no plans on getting it.

Yep - Florida makes it so easy, just drive through the local fire station, roll down your window, fill out a short form, answer a couple questions, stick your arm out the car window, fireman "shoots" you with flu shot, and you're on your way - takes about 3 minutes total!

I've never gotten one. I haven't had the flu in over 15 years. I get colds, but not the flu. I think if I got it more often I would consider the shot. (knock wood my luck holds. lol). I do get the kids flu shots each year...my 4 year old has asthma and my twins were preemies.

I've never had one and neither has DH or DD. None of us are high risk.

I'm 47 and I have had 2 flu shots in my life. I have also had the flu twice in my life. Guess which years I had the flu. I know they say the flu shot doesn't give you the flu, but since I have had 2 shots 15 years apart and have had the flu both years I got the shot, I won't be getting another one anytime soon.

I had my first one this year. They were doing them free where I work. I travel frequently and worry about catching something with the recycled air on the planes. It was 3 weeks ago and I haven't had any reaction.

no way!!! ive gotten one 3 times and each time i became VERY SICK.... one of those times happened to be CHRISTMAS MORNING WHILE ON THE DISNEY CRUISE AT CASTAWAY CAY!!!!!!!

and i know it wasnt sea sickness.


i REFUSE to get a flu shot. 100% REFUSE.

I work in health care so we are strongly encouraged to get one. They provide them at the job site. And will even do drive bys (going dept to dept to administer). I usually get one. This year I did and I regretted it. I got a bad reaction to it and I was not happy. Ended up having to spend a bunch of time in employee health dept to get checked up for the reaction, lots of paper work as well. Wish I would have just skipped it this year.

Actually, the CDC is recommending that even young healthy people who have never received a flu shot get one this year.

I'm high risk and told to get one each year but I usually don't make the time to do it.

They *think* I may have had the flu a few weeks ago but it turned into a flare of Crohns and I ended up hospitalized for 4 nights. After that, a smart person would go ahead and get one but I'm still not convinced it's worth the risk.

Only time I have ever gotten Pnemonia was the year I had the flu shot. NO Way ever again

Yep...got mine Sunday, free at work. But as a peds nurse, I need to be protected. I've only taken them for about the past 5-6 years.

Hmm, guess I should have mentioned in my earlier post that our whole family has been getting flu shots regularly for at least the last 5 years.........never a problem with any of them.
