I've been trying to get one, but my family doctor can not get any this year and two clinics I signed up for have been canceled so far. Will try again on 12/2. But, they assure me there is no shortage.

The flu damned near killed my then 36 year old wife 10 years ago. She had to be hospitalized.

A little late on this thread, but I am a firm believer in getting the flu shot every year. I work for a hospital and we are exposed to any and every germ. I get the shot every year. I believe that this country has major flu epidemics every year because so many people do not get the flu shot.............HOWEVER........that being said, the previous poster was correct in stating that even though people get the flu shot, they still get other strains of flu germs. This is so true. The flu serum is made from the strains that were around the previous season, so by the time that we get the flu shot, there are many, many more strains around because we have so many people coming into our country with different germs.

But, I still feel that we should protect ourselves from what we know is there every year.

NOPE, you are not too late for this Thread...PEOPLE, post away...I enjoy reading what everyones feels about the FLU SHOT!!!

I am the OP, and I am 52yo and have never had the shot before and always had serious reservations about getting it. BUT I am glad I did!!! :thumbsup2

Well, I called my MD last Monday (11/20) and he said they had RUN OUT! He put our names on the list and was not sure when he would have any for DH and I...well the office called today (11/27) and said come down for 5pm!!! :teeth:

He said the same thing to me last Monday, that there was NO SHORTAGE predicted but he indeed had run out.
