Sitting here at the ER in Ocala, so we're still not exactly sure what is going on. The doctor said it is most likely a bug of some kind, but DH is very, very sick. I thought at first, it could be food poisoning from F&W because there were a couple of things that he ate different from me and I'm not sick at all (yet). Or, it could be because he did the ToT 10 miler, and he's just now showing signs of dehydration.

Either way, I'm glad my parents live close. Saratoga Springs was ready to kick us out today. They told us we were lucky to get an extra hour in the room and check out at noon.

I'm just curious if anyone else that has been recently has gotten sick or felt fluish in any way?

I've seen at least one other post in the past few days from a mom whose kids came down with a stomach bug. It's very possible there's a norovirus making the rounds.

We've gotten sick at WDW once, and I've gotten sick shortly after our return a couple of times.

I've finally come to the conclusion that WDW is probably one of the most germ-infested places on the planet. I mean, when you think about it, who wants to ruin their time at WDW by canceling due to sickness, or even spending a few days in their hotel room because they don't feel well.

If we're at home and get sick, most of us do the right thing and stay home, keeping our germs to ourselves. On vacation I think people are less likely to do that.

Our last 3 trips, I've been very very careful, washing my hands well every chance I get, being careful to keep my hands away from my mouth and nose, trying to avoid touching hand rails and keeping away from people who are coughing and sneezing, that kind of thing. Still got sick with a bad flu bug after we got back!

A former teacher of mine was at WDW with his family last week. Yesterday he posted something on FB about how the perfect way to end a magical Disney vacation was with a stomach bug. So you're not alone.

There's been a stomach bug tearing through the schools I work at in NH. If it's here, it's almost definitely in Disney, with the amount of people in the parks at any given time.

My neighbors returned from Disney Sunday and they had a stomach virus while they were there

Sorry to hear about all the sickness! We came home on Wed. night after a 9 night stay and did not get sick. We had sinus/allergy issues, but nothing caused by a virus. OP, I hope your dh is better soon.

Disney is well-known for giving people the bad tummy juju.... Whether it's all the germs (think of all the surfaces touched by thousands a day), or the combo of junk food and heat and exhaustion, so many people seem to get sick there.

It seems to be all over the majority of the state. Kids at my kids' school seem to be dropping like flies and in the area, I've noticed a lot of kids getting it, too. Some friends said the situation in Tampa is the same. I hear something about this on the local news, too, a couple of days ago. Apparently, it's going around in Miami, too.

That all being said, these kind of things seem to go all around the state at least once (if not twice) each year, so I wouldn't cancel/postpone your vacation due to it. Just be healthy and WASH YOUR HANDS!

Hope your DH feels better. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I have rarely gotten Noravirus or Rotovirus (any of the stomach bugs) *KNOCK ON WOOD*, but I attribute it to eating kimchi my whole life. My Korean mama always said that kimchi will prevent you from getting sick, and I just thought it was folklore, but I found out that it's actually a very good probiotic and that folks should eat it or sauerkraut regularly.

I plan on eating a lot of it before our Disney trip, along w/ adding a diet of green juices, too. Ever since the juicing I haven't hardly gotten the sniffles. It's a crazy immune builder. It's not the most awesome thing I've tasted, but it tastes better than being sick.

Emergen-C ain't got nothin' on a mixture of kale, celery, carrots, spinach, apples and ginger!!

:goodvibes

A facebook friend of mine did the ten miler and had to go immediately to the emergency room in orlando for dehydration and exhaustion. Could be a combo of both that and a stomach issue.

His bloodwork came back, and it was fine, so it has to be a virus. He's normally really good about washing his hands regularly while we are there, but he's thinking his immune system might have been worn down from the race and may e that's how he caught it over me.

I hope we can make it home tomorrow!

We just returned Saturday. All four of us ended up sick. But we powered through and made the best of it! The photopass photog at Epcot even took a pic of us clutching our snot rags on the way out of the park. It's hysterical!

DH caught a cold at WDW and started getting sick within days of us getting home two weeks ago. Then he gave it to me this past weekend. It isn't the flu (we both had flu shots prior to the trip). but it is a nasty cold. Sore throat. Congestion. Sneezing and coughing.

I called it the Brazilian Monkey Flu.

Got back from Disney on the 23rd. Nephew started throwing in the car on the way home. I made it home but did not finish unpacking before I started. Violent stomach bug, I have lost about 10 pounds in a week. Nephew and I both ended up at the ER Sat. for dehydration. Today was the first meal I have had in over a week. We were a party of 7, 3 of us got sick.
Of all the times we have been to Disney this is the first time any of us have gotten sick, so we have been lucky until now. And we constantly wash our hands and sanitize.

Went last year at Easter. DS5 and I both came down with flu, bronchitis and ear infections on the last day. we were so ill we were one step away from a hospital stay. We are headed back in 30 days and im praying we dont relive that again. DS 15 and DH didnt catch anything. This time little man and I won't share so many tasty treats

I remember years ago I went to disney with my wife, probably back in early 2001 or around that time and we stayed off site and one night she woke up and couldn't breathe. Had to go to the ER in the hospital and they gave her medication. She would feel a lot better when we weren't in the room. Everytime we went back to the room she would get really bad. So we think it had something to do with the room. SHe was really allergic to dander so we think they had a pet in the room. We switched rooms and she was still just as bad and ended up having to look for another hotel. I hope he feels better, Disney does spread a lot of sickness with how many people visit there in any given day..
