we are thinking about flying to lax/sna in december 2010. from yvr its over $500 p/person....from bellingham its $200.

am i missing something?

what did you pay?

Sadly, sounds about right. We decided to drive down to SeaTac (from Victoria) and fly from there. Even with the extra costs - ferry, gas, hotel, etc. it's still going to be about $500 cheaper than flying four of us directly from Victoria...

I do agree with you. VERY rarely do we ever fly out of YVR anymore.

Last year March, we went to DL, we paid $130 round trip SEA-LGB on Alaska Air (West Jet was $500 round trip).

Also last August, we went to WDW, we paid $260 round trip SEA-MCO on Alaska Air (West Jet was $850 round trip).

It's become a no-brainer for us to go to Seattle. Even with the Master Park charge and hotel stayover, that is a small expense and we still save a significant amount.

We returned from Florida last month. We also flew out of Sea-Tac. Westjet out of Vancouver for 6 was $5500.00 compared to Southwest $1500.00 US funds. We stayed 2 nights in Seattle so it was well worth driving down.

I would do it again if the opportunity rose again.

If you stay at the Marriott Springhill Suites in Renton, or Towne Place Suites in Kent, you can leave your car there for free, they take you and pick you up from Airport.

We always fly out of SeaTac too. Much cheaper. Last Jan. $260 RT with SW.
And no luggage fees

Ohmigosh, those lugguage fees do add up! Our trip to Maui in February was the first time we experienced the lugguage fee on Alaska Air.

We also fly out of Seattle, however we choose the flight that leaves at 10:45 pm and arrives is Orlando at 7ish in the morning via non-stop with Alaska airlines. This allows us just to drive down from Vancouver after the kids get out of school, park the car no hotel required. The kids slept on the plane and our first park visit the day of arrival was the waterpark it is amazing how a dip in refreshing water can wake you up. Our hotel room was ready at 3pm and after a afternoon nap... we were ready to go.

Plane fare was 124us each way on a non-stop flight. A great deal!
