Hello all! Some of you prob know that I'm not loving floral. I just received my floral quote and the idea of paying over $350 plus $135 per bridesmaid bouquet for things that I'm not sure I'm going to like together is making my mind reel. I don't have an alternative, and yet, I don't feel like I just want to leave it up to Disney floral and hope that they understand what I like..because I'm sure I have not been clear and they probably think I'm a nut. After the way our meeting went, I think they will try to recreate exactly the couple of bouquets I sent them pics of rather than adjust it to make it fit. I am not even sure that what I have picked will work together..although no on has said any differently. Flowers are not my thing...and yet, I don't want them to be terrible because I don't want to be reminded of flowers I don't like in every wedding photo! Grrr. I think this is more of a vent. Sorry...thanks for reading. I'll post some pics of things I sent that I like. Any ideas would be appreciated.

As an aside...what do you think about plum (or burgundy..but I like plum) call a lilies with indigo blue bridesmaid dresses?

Here is what I sort of like for me...what color of wrap with an ivory dress?

And, this is what I like for bridesmaids...as you can see ..not exactly matching.

Bridesmaids are wearing indigo blue dresses ...long. Groom tux with ivory vest/tie. Best man...tux with indigo blue vest/tie.

Any opinions on boutennieres and corsages for our moms?

The wedding is at Seabreeze Point. Reception is in the Attic...the only decoration we are adding to the attic are bright multicolored kiddish things!
I would REALLY REALLY appreciate honest opinions on this! Thanks again! I'd buy a round for you if I could :rotfl:

Ooh! I think that they are lovely and match really well! :thumbsup2 Maybe you could wrap your stems in ribbon the color of the bridesmaid's dresses.

Don't stress. Have you tried putting together an inspiration board or finding one in your wedding colors? Sometimes seeing it all side by side really helps.

Honestly, I think you're bouquets are great and I think they work very well together. Me personally, I would have an ivory wrap with the bride's bouquet, especially if the colors are going to be that dark plum/burgundy color, and it will go with your dress.

I think the bridesmaids bouquets are beautiful and they work with your bouquet because you have calla lilies in yours, but I don't think I like the orangey color.

What are your other colors besides the indigo blue? The plum color could be a great accent color.

I would do calla lilies for the bouts/corsages if that's the type of flower you are having in your bouquets.

I'm not having any floral at my reception either because 1) I'm not a flower person either and 2) they are way too expensive and we are on a tight budget. HTH!:thumbsup2

To be completely honest and this of course is my opinion, your bouquet is great but the bridesmaid bouquet threw me off a bit. Do you have a certain theme or an exact color scheme you like?

Below I put a couple of color scheme's together, my favorite is scheme #2, I love the plum flowers with blue bridesmaid dresses...

Color Scheme 1: If you love the dark plum and midnight roses I would maybe add a damask theme...

Bridesmaid Bouquet (but a smaller version of the one pictured)
bridalbouquetoption2.jpg

Change the Bridesmaid dress to something like this...
bridesmaiddress2.jpg

bridesmaiddress.jpg

Now if you want to keep the indigo bridesmaid dresses and the plum I would remove the midnight roses and do the following (i think this one will be more suited for SBP and the Attic)...

Color Scheme 2: indigo, plum, kaki

Brides Bouquet...I would add to the bouquet uluhe plant

Bridesmaid Dress & Bouquet

Groom's Boutonniere on a kaki Suit with a blue tie and the groomsman have a plum tie
uluheboutonniere.jpg

kakisuit.jpg

Mother's Boutonniere but instead of the orchid a rose or calla lilly
uluheboutonniere2.jpg

For the ceremony if you want to keep it low cost, I would use two tall plants on either side of the altar and put white petals on either side of the aisle. For the centerpieces I would mix in white roses with some plum calla lilies or keep it all white with white or plum candles surrounding the centerpieces then add some type of favor in the indigo color.

If you are thinking of using an outside florist., I'm using Sally from InBloom Florist and they are great and so are their prices, another person is
Debbie from Atmospheres Floral. You can find my quote from InBloom Florist on my PJ. :thumbsup2

Hope this helps and let me know if you need any other ideas? ;)

Don't be afraid to send Disney pictures of things you *don't* want, maybe with a big red X through them. :rotfl: Especially if what you hate is something that is done a lot/traditionally—they may go that route because they think it's safe.

I know it sounds silly, but I actually brought a lot of "anti-inspiration" pictures to my hair and makeup trial, and Patricia got exactly what I was going for (or not going for, in this case).

I like the bouquet you have picked for yourself, but I am kind of confused with the bridesmaid bouquet colors.

For your colors, you have ivory, dark red, and indigo...and then the orange in their bouquet out of nowhere.

One idea would be for them to have white roses and the dark red calla lilies...that way there would be some brightness against their dark dresses, and they would kind of mirror you and your bouquet.

I think the plum and indigo will be beautiful together, and I also think you should have an ivory wrap around your bouquet.

I dont know much about flowers either but I pretty much talked everything over with Warren (my Disney florist) - we spoke about colors and what flowers would go best with one another. He would send me all kinds of pictures of the different options - if your going through Disney floral, just let them know your concerns and they should be able to help. Warren has been by the far the best. I sent him pictures of everything from my shoes (to show the shade of blue they are), etc, and we were able to really create a beautiful bouquet that Im excited about. HTH
:goodvibes

I guess I'm crazy, but I think that the pop of orange would look good against indigo. They are opposites on the color chart, which means that they are complimentary colors.

Here are some inspiration boards I found:

This one I think is most similar to the colors you describe:

I agree, the indigo and orange are very nice together but only if she was just using those colors and maybe adding a creme or white but she wants to include plum with the indigo, burnt orange, deep red. She needs to decide which color scheme she wants exactly. At most 4 colors should be in a color scheme, my recommendations are 3.

Honestly, if I was her, I would do plum and indigo with hints of creams...I think the color scheme would be great for SBP and the Attic. Plus, the indigo bridesmaid dresses with coordinate perfectly with plum color calla lilies. For her bouquet some white calla lilies and some uluhe's scattered around them would look beautiful as the uluhe's have a deep purple color to them.

Wow! All of you = amazing! Okay. The debate you are having about the colours is exactly the confusion that is going on in my brain. I like the orange with the indigo..and it sort of matches the colours we are going with for our cake (just bright multi-coloured). On the other hand, the orange is what I am worried about matching with my bouquet.

So I like the colours in the damask scheme you included peunte, and cinderelli I like the blue, orange and purple. It's the fourth color added to each one that doesn't exactly match. With the damask, the orange doesn't work, and with the blue/orange/purple, red doesn't work. Originally we were going to go with shades of blue for our theme...but then hit a roadblock when we thought about floral. This is where all the confusion with colours came in. It takes disney floral a week to get back to me..and even then, it's by email and short. I get the impression no one really wants to deal with me.

We are only having personal floral...no other flowers like altar treatments or centerpieces. The bridesmaid dresses and suits are already arranged...so we can't really change them to khaki...nice touch though.

Love the uhule plant. Is that expensive?

Wouldn't mind using an outside florist for personal floral, but we are trying to meet our minimum...which might just make it easier to use Disney.

Thanks for the tip Lurkyloo..about sending things I don't like...that's sort of how my floral meeting went. Then, when she was going to hang up, I was almost in tears simply because I knew I was no closer to solving all this than when I had begun sifting endlessly through pics. So, we sort of just left it at the pics I posted earlier..then a couple of emails and now I have a floral quote.

Okay...apparently I'm still venting. Thanks so much for all the help eveyone! I'll try and get this sorted. Seems a bit more managable now.

Bleh, you're making me nervous! I'm going to have the exact same problems!

I do not understand why you want red. But I found a bouquet using all your colors that I think will make everything gorgeous.

Uluhe's are not expensive and make a bouquet look unique and whimsical.

I would get different color schemes together and have a vote with you and ur future hubby. We did that and it worked out great, we saw what we liked and didn't like and at the end made the right decision on colors for own vintage Chanel theme.

I just retried an inspiration board..i can never seem to get to the end of one!

Here..all my pics on one inspiration board.

Do you see how blue is what we were going for..and then we are trying to make it fun (mainly because we have a bunch of kids...and we are young at heart) with the multi-color? So...when I look at this board..I think maybe I need to change the bride bouquet. Am I right? The thing is, I don't really like multi colored bouquets..2 colors is sort of max. I don't mind color in the ribbon/wrap..i just like more simple bouquets with not a lot going on.

Also..the original reason for choosing red is simply for photos where the rest of the party is not in them. I like the look of deep red in the photos.

What do you think?

Honestly, disney floral is too expensive and doesn't really do a very good job. For my bouquet they cut off my flowers from the stems, glued them into a foam ball and attached fake stems to the bottom then surrounded the foam with leaves. The second I touched it the leave began to fall off and they had to bring it back to the florist to fix it. They did the same for my girls. I've never seen that done before and I requested to just have the bouquets hand tied but they told me that it would be impossible. I was in two weddings this summer and what a miracle they didnt use fake stems and glue flowers to them... hmmm... lol. I gave exact photos and details and they didnt really do what I asked. The flowers looked great in all the photos so that was fine but I knew things were not what they could have been and that it was grossly over priced. Basicly, I say you use an outside vendor. I do have to say that Rose at Disney Floral was very kind and sent my cost spreadsheet back and forth several times, editing it down to a price that I could deal with... not that I was happy with but I could deal with it. I love the fiddle head fern idea! you def need to add in a touch of the blue if the girls will be in blue... maybe a few tiny pieces of hydrangea? good luck!

Have you tried taking your dresses to a local florist and looking at some actual flower choices? I don't know about you but my DF cannot get an idea of a flower from a pic on the Internet. So I showed him some of the flowers I had in mind in the garden dept of Lowes!! :rotfl: I wanted some orchids for our beachy bling theme at Sunset Point and he thought they looked fake-ish in the Internet pics.

I bet a small, local florist would be more than happy to show you some flowers and/or pics - especially if you tell her your situation. You might be able to take some camera phone pics for Disney Floral. Just a thought!

And I agree - the gals on this board are AMAZING! The inspiration boards are awesome! :cheer2:

Thanks 2nd time bride. I live in a trez small city in Northern Ontario. Even the places that sell flowers don't have the largest selection. There is one flower shop and a flower section in the grocery store. I tried finding lilies ...and no luck. Not so sure about going into the flower shop knowing that I'm not going to buy anything from them. Also, I live far far away (that's what my 3 year old calls it lol) from my bridesmaids, and I haven't even actually seen their dresses in the the color they ordered. All of this just adds to my inability to choose flowers lol. Anyway...I think I'm either going to take out the red or take out the orange.

It will all work out!
