Flowers, Segways & DIS Meets, Oh My! - Updated 10/26, Final Thoughts-FINALLY!

What a wonderful day you had at MK....I agree it was hot....I don't even know what day it was but it was hot :rotfl2:
A question about your sandwich at CHH....did the tuna salad have onions or other crunchy things in it? :lmao: I am so picky about salads like that and so I have never ordered it/been there and everyone is always saying how good it is!
I love the TTA....sometimes I feel like I could make several rounds ;)
Mmmmm....where is dinner tonight?

Tracy

I read yesterday that Mr. Tom Morrow was back on the TTA! I hope that is true - you'll have to let me know for sure when you ride it this summer :thumbsup2

That will be awesome if it is true!
Maybe they read the discontent about its disappearance on the DIS!

Mom got the fried shrimp and fries, I tasted her shrimp and thought it was quite tasty. I was expecting it to be sort of greasy and it wasn't at all.

I have had the tuna sandwich, the chicken, and the fish. I might just go for the shrimp next time. :thumbsup2

I'm so enjoying your trip report! I just registered here today to plan a trip for the fall but I can't get off the trip report board :confused3 you guys are awesome! I can't write much myself but I'm enjoying reading all you guys reports!!! Well, back to reading I go

Hi there! I just started reading your TR and I love it! You and your mom are both so pretty!

Coronado Springs looks gorgeous. We had trouble deciding between that and Caribbean Beach for our last trip and ultimately chose CBR, but I still really want to try CSR especially after seeing all your great pics!!

Yes Tracy, regardless of what day it was - it was hot!

I don't like crunchy things like onions or celery either, I've never noticed them in the Anchors Aweigh sandwich - I think you'd be safe :thumbsup2

Dinner tonight will be at the Poly, and yes, we did eat dessert there, but we had much much more later...... ;)

That will be awesome if it is true!

 You're so clever MeMom! I remember right after they unveiled the new speil someone started a petition to bring back the old one. I signed it, but have no idea what happened to that petition after that. I'm sure Disney has received at least a few complaints about it........

The shrimp was tasty! If I can tear myself away from the tuna sandwich, I just might get it next time too.

Hi there! :welcome: and thanks so much for posting! The trip report boards are sooooo addicting, and the people who hang out here are some of the nicest on the DIS :goodvibes

Hi & :welcome: I'm so glad you stopped by! I've seen you around, we must subscribe to alot of the same TRs :thumbsup2

I've stayed at CBR in the past too and really liked it there. In fact prior to CSRs renovation I would have said that I preferred CBR, now I'm not so sure. CSR is so pretty and the new rooms are great!

Oh my gosh...I hope that is true! I will let you know! :goodvibes

Keeping my fingers crossing that you hear that "page" next month!

Great updates and beautiful pictures! The flowers and plants (and sky :rolleyes1) look a lot different in May than they do in December!

Sounds like maybe you are headed for the dessert buffet after dinner?

Hi Michelle! I am finally caught up! I agree about the little statues in the hub... they are very cute. I am hoping to take pictures of them from different angles when we are down in August, seems like there was a series of photos on AllEars that showed different ways to photograph them. I have a feeling that I am going to drive my family crazy with my camera! :rotfl: We've never done Mickey's Philharmonic so we'll have to make a point of checking that out. :)

You got some beautiful pictures of the park!! Nice!! I love all of those little character statues in front of Cinderella Castle. And CHH is a favorite lunch spot for us!! I don't eat seafood but Brent does--he's able to enjoy fish and I can eat chicken!! YUMMY!! We ended up eating there twice for lunch this last trip! Your picture in front of the Liberty Bell reminded me of a pic I took of my Dad in that same spot!! You'll see it in my TR (whenever I get around to starting it)!! :goodvibes

Yep, it's not nearly as green nor are there all of the bright flowers in December, but there are other wonderful things to look at at that time of year :goodvibes

We had way more dessert than we needed that night, that's for sure!

We saw a group of teenage girls taking pics with the statues, they were all posing like character is, I bet their pics turned out really cute!

You've never done Mickey's Philharmagic?! Add that to your 'must do' list right now young lady! Really, you should make time for it, it's a great show.

CHH seems to be less crowded than the other CS restaurants in the MK, so your meal feels more relaxed and you don't have to fight and claw for a table which is my favorite thing about it!

Speaking of your TR, when are you going to get started?????? You've got lots of dedicated readers waiting oh so patiently........ :rolleyes1

Mom and I left the Magic Kingdom and headed towards the bus stop, we didn't have to wait too long for one to arrive, maybe 10 minutes or so. There was only us and two other people on the bus, a lady and her grandson. She had told us that he had thrown up shortly before getting to the bus stop, she was afraid that he had just gotten too hot. Well, he threw up two more times on the bus, right in the seats - ewww. I felt bad for the kid, I know he couldn't help it, but it does kind of make me lean back towards that car rental idea......

I felt even worse for the poor little guy when the grandmother alerted the bus driver as to what had happened. The driver was really not nice about it at all and you could tell he was very irritated to have to take the bus back to the depot for a cleaning. :sad2:

After we arrived back in our room we quickly changed into our swimsuits and headed down to the quiet pool. We only had about a half hour since our dinner ADR was so early, so we decided against going to the main pool. The quiet pool worked perfectly for what we needed - a quick way to cool off!

After the previous night's escapade in getting to the GF, we didn't even need to discuss how we would get to dinner that night - we were taking a cab! We arrived at the Poly with a bit of time to explore, so we walked around and took some pictures. The Poly is gorgeous! So lush and tropical.

Soon it was time to check in for our dinner at one of my favorite Disney restaurants

IMG_4054.jpg

I ordered a lapu lapu, and I obviously started something there. I had several people come up to the table and ask me what it was, and a waiter came by and told me that everyone suddenly wanted my drink. I looked around as our dinner wore on and sure enough, lapu lapu's were popping up on tables all around us! Here's a pic of my yummy drink

IMG_4055.jpg

For dinner Mom ordered from the chef selections, where you can get an appetizer, entre and dessert for 1 TS credit. She started with the cucumber roll

IMG_4056.jpg

I had to laugh at her at one point because she got a bit too much wasabi on a bite and I think her mouth about caught on fire! I thought it was quite funny

Her entre was the coconut and almond chicken which was served with a salad with a wonderfully light and slightly sweet dressing. She loved the salad, but said the chicken had just a bit too much breading on it

IMG_4057.jpg

I had the shrimp and scallops with sticky rice. I loved mine!

IMG_4058.jpg

Given what was on our agenda for later that night, we really should have skipped dessert, but we didn't. It's already paid for as part of the dining plan, it seemed a shame not to get any! :rolleyes1 I had the banana crème brulee, crème brulee is my favorite dessert, if it's on the menu I'm probably ordering it. This had a layer of chocolate on the bottom, yum!

IMG_4059.jpg

Mom got the white chocolate cheesecake

IMG_4060.jpg

We were at the restaurant much longer than I thought we would be, our waiter was very slllllloooooowwwwww. We weren't in a hurry though so it wasn't a big deal. After dinner we walked around the Poly a bit more, took a few pictures and then found a bench outside and called home.

Continued in the next post:

Eventually we made our way up to the monorail platform so that we could return to the MK. We had more dessert to eat! I had been able to book the Wishes Dessert Party for tonight and I was so excited about it. We couldn't check in for the party until 8:00, so we took some time and walked through the Emporium. We shopped for awhile, but didn't buy anything. We were going to DTD the next night and figured we'd do all of our shopping there.

We arrived at the Tomorrowland Terrace about 15 minutes early and there were already a lot of people lined up. A CM came down the line and checked our name off of the list, then gave us a section letter and a wrist band. Soon they began seating people and we were lead to our reserved table.

IMG_4071.jpg

We had a great spot, right on the front row. And even though we weren't hungry at all, there were desserts to be eaten, so grabbed some plates and loaded up. They have a little bit of everything on the buffet, we decided to get mostly different things and share them so that we could get a taste of most everything. My plate:

IMG_4068.jpg

Starting at the top with the chocolate covered strawberry, then fresh fruit, chocolate cheesecake, fresh berry tart, pistachio crème brulee and some kind of raspberry tart. It was all quite tasty, especially that crème brulee - I may have gone back a couple of times for more of it and more strawberries...... :rolleyes1

Mom's plate

IMG_4069.jpg

Strawberry, mango shooter (I didn't care for this much at all), fruit, cannoli, a peanut butter & chocolate pie thing, key lime tart in the middle, and tiramisu off to the side. She went back for seconds as well, but I don't remember what all she got the second time around. We both had raspberry lemonade to drink, and I think Mom had some coffee too. The buffet was plentiful and everything was restocked when it got low, you certainly won't go hungry here - tons of offerings!

There was a photopass photographer there as well, so we grabbed a picture.

I also took several shots of the castle as it changed colors throughout the night.

Soon it was time for Wishes to start. I'll say one thing about this spot for the fireworks - it is good, but not great. The majority of the fireworks look like they are off to the right of the castle instead of behind it as they appear if you are watching from Main Street. BUT, the show is still amazing from here, and Tink flies right over you! I tried to capture it, but failed miserably - see for yourself

IMG_4084.jpg

We could have very easily watched the fireworks from our table, but I wanted to try and take some pictures so I moved up to the wall. No fantastic shots, but some that weren't too bad

Soon it was over and we made our way out of the park and back to our room, we had another early morning planned for the next day.

Coming up: Meeting Elton

Great update. Your scallops and shrimp at Kona look great...I'm tempted to switch from breakfast to dinner...but Mark would probably kill me. :lmao:

I think you got great fireworks photos and the one of Tink is not bad at all (better than a lot I've seen, including my own).

Great photopass pic of you and Mom.

What a great evening! I absolutely love your pictures from the Polynesian. They really make me want to be there right now. It is such a beautiful resort. And the last picture of Wishes is really cool!

I love Kona! We have eaten there for dinner the past few times. Speaking of which, I am now starving and drooling after looking at both your dinner pics and those aboslutely yummy dessert photos.

LOVE Kona!!! That's one of my favorites too! I got the same dessert as you did, the banana creme brulee.......however, I don't remember it having chocolate on the bottom. Maybe that's new??? Anyhow, it makes it that much more enticing! YUM!

The Wishes Dessert Party looked nice! Is it only offered on certain evenings? The desserts looked fabulous! :yay:

YUM!! This post has made me sooo hungry! We LOVE Kona too, but have only been for breakfast so I definitely want to try a lunch or dinner one of these days :)

That poor kid throwing up on the bus! :sad1:

You trend-setter, you, with your Lapu Lapu! Dinner looks delicious!

Love all your pictures from the Poly -- so pretty and tropical! :lovestruc

The dessert party sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks for the stroll around the Polynesian this evening.
I would like to have had a little white chocolate cheesecake as I was walking along, though. :rolleyes1
