and on one of hte travel shows i saw that rock thing you walked through and thought of you guys, it looked very cool in the show as well.

When we went in May 0f 2009 it was the before the rain hit and I would have preferred the rain - it was the hottest I ever felt 100 + degrees every day.

Lessa that was agreat vacation in spite of the rain !! Yes I was soaked all the time but the parks were empty and rides were walk on !! I did more rides/ attractions on that trip than any other !!!

We loved cruising. DCL is great for us as we like the smaller ships and we are not into gambling and drinking/partying the night away. I don't know if I would like going on one of the larger "party" cruise lines.

I love seeing the cruise pictures! I'm already starting to think about the boys' first cruise in 2013. Jeremy says we should leave them with their grandparents and go by ourselves, but I think I'd miss them too much.

I've never heard of snakes in the WDW resorts....only love bugs. Maybe you don't have to worry so much? I clicked on the thread and I would totally have tried to sneak that snake back up North with me. I'm sure Andrew would've stopped me.

That's a LOOOT of rain! We had ankle deep rain on our latest trip too! I'm so glad I brought flip flops and extra towels in my bag before I headed out that day. Best idea, EVER. Also helps that I have a DBF to carry all of that.

That cruise....those rocks! Looks amazing! Which Caribbean is that? East of West? Did you find a lot of activities to do? I'm thinking of sending my parents on one, but they don't want to lounge on the beach all day.

Well if you go on a Disney cruise the kids clubs are great. All the reports that I have read, the kids don't ever want to leave the clubs they have so much fun. So you and hubby can have lots of alone time while the kids play in the clubs but you can also have family time.

Each trip was a blast and brought something new. I think this coming trip will be our last WDW trip for a few years though, we want to travel other places and don't want Disney to get "boring", not that that is possible.

I've read about snakes in WDW resorts. There was a snake and her "nest" found in the curtains of a room in the Contemporary tower once. I also read a thread where a family came back to their room at POP after a day at the parks and found a snake in their bathroom (probably got in when mouskeeping stopped by).

Thanks goodness for Crocs and flip flops! I would never wear Crocs normally but in WDW I make an exception. They are so comfy on the feet and are wonderful in rain storms. I am the pack mule for the family and we only carry the one small bag so it limits bringing extra stuff like towels. It's a very good idea though!

I thought I would go through my day to day plans. Feel free to give suggestions and ideas.

Day 1 - Arrival Day

We have an early morning flight out of Syracuse which means we will be leaving our house around 2am in order to allow lots of time for crossing the border, getting to the airport and any possible Security type delays once there. This is how we have done it every other year and it has worked so far. Only thing is that none of us ever manage to get any sleep before leaving so by the time we get to bed on arrival day we have all been up for a REALLY long time. I think once I was up for 40 hours straight! This year will hopefully be different.

JetBlue has seen fit to add a direct flight from Syracuse to Orlando so we should be arriving in Orlando right around 10am. In the past the plane has always stopped in NYC, we never had to get off but there was still that added time where they had to unload/reload all the other passengers, it's nice that we don't have to do that this year.

I'm sure that the first thing we will do in the terminal after the monorail ride will be to check out the Disney and Universal shops. We do this every time, no idea why as they offer the same merchandise as at the parks. I guess it just makes us feel like we are already at Disney?

By the time we are done checking out the shops our luggage should be arriving in the terminal to get picked up. Bags in hand it will be off to the rental car counter. We always get a rental car. I am a very impatient person and I can't stand waiting around for buses when I could get us where we are going much faster. It also allows us to avoid that whole crammed like sardines, face stuck in smelly persons armpit experience that a full bus can provide. We also like to eat off-site and visit the grocery store. I am always the driver as I have great navigational skills and Mom gets stressed out driving in unfamiliar places whereas once I have been somewhere I always remember my way around. I am totally at ease behind the wheel.


Hopefully we will arrive at CSR around noon if all goes well. If the room is ready we will drop off all our stuff and then it will be off to eat! If the room is not ready, well we are still off to eat! Now here is where I am unsure of what we are going to do.

Initially I had planned for us to eat an early dinner at Chef Mickey's or Ohana this night. Well Erich shot that idea down, he said he would be too tired for a buffet and would not be able to gorge himself on as much food as he normally would when visiting a buffet. I haven't canceled the CM reservation yet, I'm thinking I should keep it in case he changes his mind? I did make another reservation for Chef Mickey's for another night though just in case.

Rewind back to lunch time, we have just checked into the hotel. The time of the day and our level of hunger will determine how we proceed. I have a lunch ADR for T-Rex at Downtown Disney for 2:30. I made this ressie after Erich said no to dinner at Chef Mickey's. If we can survive our growling tummies, we will head over to Downtown Disney and browse through the shops until our ADR time arrives. However, if it is still too early for the ADR and we simply must eat then the plan is to head over to TGIFridays. According to Mom eating here on our arrival day for lunch is a tradition since we did it both in 2007 and 2008.

After lunch we will head over to the grocery store. Mom and I found the Publix on our last trip so now we can go to a "real" grocery store unlike the overpriced carpeted Gooding's at the Crossroads shopping center where we had always gone in the past. We plan on stocking up on breakfast food, snacks and possibly items to make light meals such as sandwiches in the room. If we get lucky at check-in we may even be able to get a microwave in our room which will broaden our food selection choices.

Then it will be back to the resort to unpack the luggage and stow away the food. The rest of the day is totally free. We will not be going to any parks this night so we will probably just go relax by the pool for the rest of the afternoon and then be back in the room to watch Survivor, I am assuming that the current season will be ending while we are on vacation.

Hopefully it will be an early night to bed. The rest of the family never seems to have a problem getting to sleep but I always have a hard time my first night in a hotel room. I find it incredibly hard to get to sleep! I don't know what it is, I should be able to fall asleep without difficulty considering how long I am awake but nope, no can do. Back in 2008 I ended up reading Twilight in the bathroom until the wee hours of the morning so as to not wake up the rest of the family. At least CSR has those sliding doors so if I do end up staying up much later than the rest of the family I can go into the vanity area and block the light out, much more comfortable than the bathroom!

You could just grab a nice QS at DTD for lunch on check-in day. Then you would be less dependent upon time as you try to get all settled into your HOME.

Do you guys have T.G.I. Friday's back in Canada? It's a favorite choice of ours. Have you eaten at T-Rex before? We really enjoyed it.

I feel like the spring season of Survivor usually ends on Mother's day. Crap, that's when I'll be heading home. Am I just crazy or has the season finale been on that day in the past? I hate to miss a good episode of Survivor! Will have to double check my DVR 10 million times before we leave for Disney now to make sure it's set to record!
