Ladies I need some ideas thrown out at me will ya...

My ds is having his 10th bday party on saturday and I told him he could have some friends spend the night and have a sleepover. I feel like I am blowing this whole party off. I can't get into it. What do 10yo boys like to do at parties? Is he too old for a pinata? I have always gone way out for this stuff but cant' get into it this year. I am bad.. All I care about are my 2 DW vacations coming up.. :teeth: I need some ideas please.. Thanks

They probably just want to swim and hang out. Maybe a trip to the video store to rent some movies and video games?? Followed by a trip to the grocery store and let them pick out a ton of junk food? I bet if you do that you'd be the coolest mom ever! I think at 10 they really just want to hang out and your job is to make sure they can have fun but be safe too.

I only have girls, so it may not help.

He would be too old for Pinatas in our neighborhood.
You can have make your own sundaes.
My older DD had a shaving cream fight in backyard at her 9th or 10th birthday.
I remember the boys were watching over the fence. :rotfl:

Teresa I agree with Becky about the party. Games, movies, and lots of junk food and they will be happy, I think they are too old for a pinata.

Shaving cream fight sounds fun too. And if you have a place where they can play outside water balloons or guns will keep them busy.

Time for lunch bbl....

Time for lunch. I am going to get a Publix Sandwich.

Teresa, my nephew just had his 9th birthday. They got pizza, watched DVDs, had a water balloon fight in the backyard. I love the idea of make your own sundaes, just make sure you put out lots of napkins!

Granted, my experience is only from having younger brothers but the shaving cream and water balloons sound like fun. Maybe go to the Dollar Store and stock up on glow sticks, shaving cream, silly string, etc........ Boys also tend to like active things, like maybe a volleyball net?? That might be the older guys though. Honestly I think less is more with kids parties anyhow. Kayleigh's is next weekend and we're having it at my mom's to take advantage of the inground pool and nice big yard. Ryan is bringing home boxes from work and we are going to set them up like a giant fort and cut windows and doors and attach them to each other. We may set up a slip & slide also. I will go to Dollar Tree and buy a bunch of cheapy lawn stuff- beach balls, frisbees, maybe some floats. It's relatively easy and the kids always have so much fun and they complain when they have to leave. They don't even want to stop for cake usually. Last year we totally forgot to do presents but that's okay, I'd rather the kids got to have fun playing together. Sometimes I feel like we should be having one of those fancy parties but when I ask Kayleigh what she wants she wants to do this again.

Hey Joanne do you fly out of Buffalo? There is a pretty good DING out now good through Nov 15.

Bring me back some cookies from the bakery. ;)

Kelli, I'm contemplating ordering those paper bag scrapbooks from the ebay person. They are 12 pages, opposed to Scraponthis 16 pages.

Scraponthis - 10/19.57 shipped
ebay - 8/12.14 shipped

I'm not sure that the 16 page ones won't be too thick with the add-ons and embellishments on each page. The ebay seller has noted that the bags aren't the regular grocery type, but thicker. She has 100% feedback, I might go with her.

I really do need more stuff to add to my to do scrap list. But I can't resist those.
