Flowers and Firsts - A May 2010 PTR, 5/13 TR started! Link on pg 39

Hi Michelle!

I just followed your link from kcandbella's PTR. Our trips will overlap a few days...we will be at POR April 28 - May 3. I'm loving your PTR so far. Your pics from the zoo are fantastic! :thumbsup2 Do you mind me asking what kind of camera/lens you have?

Can't wait to hear more!
Jen

Your plans for Day 3 sound great!! Those are definitely must do's on my list as well!! Yay for the Wishes Dessert Party!! Can you believe we're almost there?!?! Only a little while more to go!! :cheer2:

Woo hoo for booking the dessert party! Once I know for sure that we are headed to Disney, I will call and see if it extends into July!

I can't wait to hear about the Grand Floridian Cafe, and your experience with school bread -- those are two things we have never tried either!

I listen to the Soarin' music almost every morning in the car because, secretly, I wish I could start off every morning with a ride on it.

As Katie said, they are only booking the dessert party through May right now, but I really can't imagine that they won't extend it - if it's profitable and popular you know they will!

I'm looking forward to the GFC and the school bread too - I've got quite a few 'firsts' on this trip, can't wait to experience it all!

Oh my gosh, that Soarin' music just makes me happy :goodvibes I listen to Mouse House Radio on Live365 and everytime it comes on it just makes me smile.

Is it sad I am excited to hear about where you are eating on day 3? I'm going to say it's because I would EXPECT for you to ride soarin, SE, TT and to browse the WS. It's the excitement of "what will she eat?" that just gets me!! (OK, my life is a little sad)

I can't wait to try school bread and am excited to eat at GFC as well!

Behind the seeds sounds fun to me too, can't wait to hear about it!

Jackie, they are only booking the dessert party through May right now so you have time still!

I know! The food is the best part

With the boys, we've never been able to do any of the tours so I'm looking forward to them!

How fantastic! What a grown up WDW trip :cloud9:

We got snacks in Norway last trip and I think that it is one of the best kept secrets in WDW! Such a charming place and soooo fresh and delicious! I am interested in reading about the sandwiches! Yum!

We stayed at the Grand Floridian in 08 and I poked my head into the GF Cafe. Soooo pretty, can't wait to read your review. Sounds like a GREAT Epcot day. I am sooo jealous :goodvibes

And people say WDW is just for kids - I'm finding in my planning that there is PLENTY to keep adults only happy!

I've never even been in the bakery at Norway but I've read good things about it, can't wait to try it!

I looked inside the GFC when we went to the GF to see the Christmas decorations in December and yes, it was very pretty - I hope the food is good too :thumbsup2

I had a lot to catch up on in the week that I've been gone.

First---sounds like you had a fabulous trip to Memphis with Don and the boys. I have never been to the Civil Rights Museum, or Graceland. The zoo, however, I have been to and it is a really good one. :thumbsup2

Love your day 2 and 3 plans for you and your mom. Have you eaten CS at Yak/Yeti? The menu looks really good. We may have to try that in May.

Glad you got your Wishes dessert party booked. Your mom will love it! :goodvibes

Hi Michelle! Welcome home!!

Memphis was fun and that zoo was so nice.

I haven't eaten at the Yak & Yeti CS yet, just the TS, but the menu looks good and we really enjoyed the TS when we went, so I'm betting we'll like the CS too.

I'm so excited about the dessert party! :woohoo:

Yay for booking the Wishes dessert party! I debated, but decided it is not for us. We will also be at Epcot on Monday!!! We are doing the EMH Sun night though, so no RD that day. We will probably relax in the AM, then head to Epcot in the early afternoon. We have dinner ressies at Teppan Edo that evening. That school bread looks really yummy!!! :goodvibes

I'll keep an eye out for you at Epcot on Monday, we'll probably be there all day until our dinner ADR. We ate at Teppan Edo in December and all really liked it - the kids love watching the chefs cook too!

Black Eyed Peas, Ludicris & LMAFO. We missed LMAFO. I was getting DS a t-shirt when Ludicris was on, but I got to see a few of his songs. He is...... way to loud for me!:confused3 My cup was vibrating when he was on!!! Black Eyed Peas were awesome! I haven't been to a concert since before my oldest was born.

I bet that was a fun concert! The Black Eyed Peas were here not too long ago with U2, they were playing at the OU football stadium. I begged and begged and begged to go but Don couldn't be talked into the $100+ tickets. :sad2: Two of the couples that we hang out with all the time went and said it was great!

I'd like to stow away with you for day 3!!! Everything sounds to great!

The Wishes dessert party seems like so much fun! If they extend it I might have to check into that.

Your day sounds great! You will love school bread. Yummo! The GFC looks so pretty. I glanced in there last summer when we were resort hopping.

I bet they will extend the dessert party, they brought it back so it must have been a money maker for them - if they are making money on something I can't imagine that they wouldn't keep it around :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, Day 3 sounds wonderful! I love the idea of enjoying the day like this. :cloud9:

Lots of adult oriented things on this trip! I'm excited for it!

Hi Jen and :welcome: to my PTR! Glad you followed me over!

Thanks for the compliment on my pics. I have a DSLR Canon Rebel xsi, I love it! Almost all of the zoo pics were taken with the zoom lens, it's a Canon lens EFS 55-250mm. The one thing about the DSLR that is kinda of a pain is switching out the lenses - if I wanted to take a picture of the boys many of the times I had to switch out the lens, take my picture and then put the zoom lens back on for the animal shots. Takes some extra time, but the results are worth it :thumbsup2

5 weeks to go!!! :thumbsup2

Almost there! :yay:

It's coming up fast now - I told Mom the other day when I called her to tell her about the desset party that it will be here before we know it!

5 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!!

:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

This weekend should keep me busy, both boys are playing in a baseball tournament (thankfully at the same park!). The park is about a 45 minute drive from our house. Both of them had a game last night and both have 2 today, 1 each definitely tomorrow and then more if either of their teams finish in the top 4 and move on to bracket play. Only problem is the stupid wind is blowing like crazy this weekend! Last night it was 20-30 mph, they say today is going to be worse with gusts up to 50 mph  it's coming out of the south right now, but is supposed to turn from the north later this afternoon - that could be flat cold!!

Ugh! I hate wind! I can deal with cold so much better than cold with wind! Stay bundled up this weekend and have fun watching the boys play baseball!

YAY for FIVE WEEKS!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Have fun today with all the ballgames. Sounds like it may be cool with the wind, especially when the sun goes down. Hope your boys' teams win! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: for five weeks!!!! I really need to start looking over my lists!!! :rotfl2:

I did however receive some Mickey Mail 2 days ago....my ME luggage tags! :hyper:

Tracy

Hope you stayed warm Michelle, sleeping bags always worked for us...
Wind is the worst!
Yuck to eating dirt!!!

Lots of adult oriented things on this trip! I'm excited for it!

I knew it! I have an xsi as well! I love it so much I'm surprised I haven't named it! :rotfl: I haven't invested in any additional lenses yet...but I have my heart set on a 50mm fixed...now I want the zoom lens. Sigh...

Oh my gosh! The wind was horrible today! It was so cold - like you said, just cold isn't too bad to deal with, but throw in that wind and its awful :sad2: I sure hope tomorrow is better weather wise.

I love watching my kids play baseball, but today it was not fun - that wind was bad! It's been a tale of two tournaments for the boys. Jared's team is 3-0 with one pool play game to go, they are pretty much assured of making the championship bracket. Justin's team on the other hand is 0-3, yikes! They were competitive, just came up short all three games. They have one game tomorrow and that will be it for them this weekend.

:woohoo: for five weeks!!!! I really need to start looking over my lists!!! :rotfl2:

Tracy

I need to look over my packing list, I'm such a nerd - I keep one saved in excel and just tweek it for each trip. It's time to start tweeking!

I can't wait for my Mickey Mail! It will go to my TA though, she will hold the ME tags until the travel packet comes in and then send it to me all together, so I've probably got a couple more weeks.

Hope you stayed warm Michelle, sleeping bags always worked for us...
Wind is the worst!
Yuck to eating dirt!!!

Unfortunately we don't own any sleeping bags - I may need to go get one for tomorrow though! It was c-c-c-cold today! I was bouncing back and forth between two different fields watching the boys play - Justin's field wasn't so bad because the wind was at our back, but on Jared's it was in our face, so yes, we ate more than our fair share of dirt today!

I knew it! I have an xsi as well! I love it so much I'm surprised I haven't named it! :rotfl: I haven't invested in any additional lenses yet...but I have my heart set on a 50mm fixed...now I want the zoom lens. Sigh...

The zoom lens is great! I used it last trip to WDW on the safari, in the shows, and for the Candlelight Processional - got some really nice pics!

We went to the Razorback Baseball game last night and I was freezing with the wind. This morning I woke up with a lovely stuffy nose from the wind blowing crap in the air. DH, DS & DD went to the game this afternoon - wind was crazy! I stayed home and had a nap.... Hope you fair well at the ball park!

Michelle, I say head out and get a sleeping bag so you can zip yourself up in that thing and stay warm....
Target or Walmart either will do.

Let me get my 5 week dancing shoes on..........okay.......ready! :yay::woohoo::rotfl2:

Hope that your boys' teams won their baseball games. I soooooo miss going to the ballpark and eating chili cheeseburgers.

Ugggg, I woke up with my head feeling like a bowling ball this morning I was so stuffy from being out in that wind! I wanted to go right back to bed, but had to get up and get ready for church. We had ground breaking on a new wing the church is building and the bishop for our district was there to preach - I didn't want to miss that! I was very glad I went. Of course, then it was right back out to the ballpark!

Well, today was windy but not nearly as bad. It was also sunny which helped so much with the temperature!

Baseball was good for Jared's team this weekend, they made the championship bracket but lost in the semi's by 1 run! They ended up in 3rd place, so it was still a good weekend. Justin's team struggled a bit, but ended on a possitive note with a win, it wasn't enough to get them into the championship bracket, but at least they didn't go out with a loss.

Day 4 - Tuesday, May 4th

I am super excited for this day because we will finally get to the Magic Kingdom! (assuming of course that we don't make it over for EMHs on Sunday night) I chose today for MK because there is no Spectro on this day, I'm hoping that helps keep the crowds lower.

Magic20Kingdom.gif

I am so excited for Mom to experience the sights and smells of Main Street, mmmmmm can't you just smell the fresh cinnamon rolls from the bakery? We may even have to pop in to get one!

DSC02842.jpg

There is always a long list of 'must do's' for MK! I'll start in Tomorrowland:

Space Mountain

800px-Magic_Kingdom_Space_Mountain.jpg

Tomorrowland Transit Authority (even though they have practically ruined it with that new lame spiel! :headache: )

tta.jpg

Buzz Lightyear

2770028389_428a143ccf.jpg

Carousel of Progress - as cheesy and outdated as it is, I love it and I know Mom will get a kick out of it too.

Carousel_of_Progress_in_the_Magic20.jpg

If time allows we may do Astro Orbiter - great views, but it does make me a bit queasy, so it's on the 'maybe' list, I'll do it if Mom wants to.

Will not do:
Indy Speedway - too slow and smelly!
Stitch - no explanation needed!!!!!
Monster's Inc - I know everyone seems to love this show, but Mom and I both have a fear of being singled out, so that will keep us far away from the Laugh Floor!

Fantasyland:

It's a Small World - I told Mom it was a Disney rite of passage, she had to ride it at least once!

orlando_009p.jpg

Peter Pan's Flight - I'm not sure what it is about it, it's just an attraction that I love. I smile every time I hear the music for it on Mouse House Radio. :cloud9:

disney-magic-kingdom-peter-pan-flig.jpg

Mickey's PhilharMagic - my favorite of all the Disney 3D shows, it's just fabulous!

mickeysphilharmagic.jpg

I doubt we'll do any other Fantasyland rides, we may throw in a few if time allows, but I can tell you there will be no ride on the teacups for me!

Toontown:

I love Barnstormer, but would feel very silly being two adults riding on it, so I doubt we will. We may check out Mickey and Minnie's houses though before they go away for good.

Frontierland:

Must do: Splash and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

wdw-splash-mountain-400-3.jpg

big-thunder-mountain-400-1.jpg

If time allows maybe we'll go over to explore Tom Sawyer Island, I've never been over there.

Liberty Square:

The Haunted Mansion is a must do and probably The Hall of Presidents too. We'll ride the Riverboat if we have time, never done that either.

800px-The_Haunted_Mansion_Magic_Kin.jpg

Adventureland:

Gotta see the Pirates!

piratesofthecaribbean431.jpg

And take the silly cruise through the jungle.

jungle-cruise-adventureland-magic-k.jpg

Lunch will be CS again. This time at Columbia Harbour House

Columbia_harbour_house.jpg

Love the Anchor's Away sandwich

For a snack I'm really hoping that they still have the yummy cinnamon almonds that we had in December.

Dinner is at the Polynesian

at Kona Cafe

Originally our ADR was for 6:10, but I moved it back to 5:20 when I was able to book the Wishes Dessert Party :woohoo: I want to have plenty of room for all those yummy desserts! I can't tell you how excited I am about this. I'm also so excited for Mom to see Wishes, I'm certain that she's never seen a fireworks show like this one!

magic_kingdom_wishes_castle.jpg

great update! Loving all the pics! Yay for Wishes Dessert Party :banana:!! I will want to see pics of those yummy desserts okay?! Can't wait for the next update! Hopefully you make it to Sunday EMH at MK...we'll be there!! :thumbsup2

You'll need all that sugar from the cinnamon rolls to have the energy to accomplish all your plans at the Magic Kingdom. There is always so much to do there! :goodvibes
